Norwegian High-Voltage Rockers ELECTRIC HIGH Are ‘FLICKING THE BEES’

Daily electricity to load your batteries

19 July 2023

Band: ELECTRIC HIGH
Who: A high-voltage rock act from Bergen, Norway.
A 5-piece that goes straight for the throat, fronted by two
in-your-face lead singers, while the band shoots out pure
electric power.

New single: FLICKING THE BEES

The lyrics pretty much bring across the message that if your keep on flicking
the bees, they will eventually get back at you and sting you fiercely. It’s gonna
hurt. So don’t act stupid. Stop wasting time on silly stuff. Do good. Be cool. And
you’ll be alright.

TUTV: After a short kooky a cappella intro, your feet will start tapping like mad
to the boisterous drum/bass beat. Flicking The Bees is a mid-tempo wack with the
vigor of a merciless drill hammer.

310 seconds of classic guitar rock with a wicked ZZ Top twist and lots of primal
screams. Somewhere in the middle a freaked-out guitar solo à la Slash draws all
of your ears attention before the tandem vocals take over again until the mental
finale. Oil your pipes for an ah-ah-ah-ah-ah sing-along.

Unleash the bees.

Waking Up With No Place In The World For Pennsylvania Rockers THE MENZINGERS

Daily noise that works faster than any stimulant

19 July 2023

Pennsylvania’s puissant rockers THE MERZINGERS produce lots of passionate noise since 2006. So far they fabricated 6 LPs. And number 7 is hanging in the air. No details so far but the band just confirmed the news and revealed the first single.

THERE’S NO PLACE IN THE WORLD FOR ME is pure Menzingers. A fiery cry out where
the combination of emotion, agony, and fervour sends shivers down your spine and
Greg Barnett‘s hot-tempered voice does the very same thing.

Astonishing.

SLOWDIVE Share New Atmospheric Track From Their Upcoming LP – Hear ‘SKIN IN THE IMAGE’ Here

Daily electricity to load your batteries

(photo by Turn Up The Volume)

British beloved shoegazers SLOWDIVE are set to release their 5th LP – their first in
6 years – named Everything Is Alive on September 1. Pre-order info here.

Album artwork

The album is dedicated to vocalist/guitarist Rachel Goswell’s (vocalist/guitarist)
mother and drummer Simon Scott’s father, who both passed away in 2020.

Neil Halstead (vocals/guitar): “It’s a more minimal electronic record that conception changed as they worked through the songs together. As a band, when we’re all happy with it, that tends to be the stronger material. We’ve always come from slightly different directions, and the best bits are where we all meet in the middle.”

Following the lead single Kisses a second taster has just arrived. SKIN IN THE GAME is a sonic slo-mo dream. Atmospheric and soothing. Layers of synths and sparkling guitar play. A beaut.

BEASTIE BOYS Topped The UK Album Charts With ‘HELLO NASTY’ 25 Years Ago Today

Back in time

18 July 2023

Hip-rap-hop-rock heroes BEASTIE BOYS topped the UK Albums Charts
with their 5th longplayer HELLO NASTY, on this day 25 years ago.

ROLLING STONE wrote: “Imagine a sonic mix that’s about sixty-five to seventy percent the frenetic, sample-crazy hip-hop eclecticism of Paul’s Boutique and about twenty-five to thirty percent the funk-punk fun of III Communication. The Beasties, as innovative musicians and good citizens, contribute more to the hip-hop community than a lot of MCs.”
Score: 4/5.
