New longplayers ready for release
24 August 2023
Artist: KATIE MF
Who: Singer, guitarist and songwriter from London who embraces the anti-conformity, anti-authoritarianism, do-it-yourself ethic of punk rock, effortlessly combining this with
the socially conscious storytelling associated with folk music.
Her debut album, titled FALSE STARTS, OPEN ENDINGS
sees the day of light on September 15 via Lockjaw Records
Press info: “FSOE is hard to pin into just one genre, but is at its heart a proper guitar album built on punk principles. The lyrics are thoughtful, the tempo high and the choruses catchy – you’ll want to get your hands in the air and scream along. And maybe have a little cry too. Ultimately this is an album for everyone who likes their guitars loud and their air punched, with driving yet jazz-tinged drums by Tobias Alexandar and top-notch production from Nick Harris.
It was mastered by Tim Debney.”
TUTV: As I had the opportunity to hear the album already, I can tell you it’s a hell
of a puissant punk-rock record. The combination of a tsunami of manic riffage, at
times when the guitars are cranked up I hear Neil Young‘s raw rollicking play, and
Katie‘s monumental voice will overwhelm your ears.
To warm up KATIE MF gave us three singles.
– JAPANSE WHISKEY –
A high-speed punk-rock knockout.
– WORK DRINKS –
An in-your-macho-face uppercut.
– CONFIDENCE CRISIS –
A reflective mid-tempo burner.
Once again, powerhouse guitars and
astonishing vocals.
