of the imagined Triptych of releases – Into The Fog (2020)
and four (2021).
Naqoy: “This is the imprint of the processing of our last years, which has been emotionally
and physically highly turbulent and grueling with a lot of self-doubt, discouragements, depression, burnout and forgiveness. It is also a meditation about art and self-expression and an attempt to signal consolation to some of those (not just artists), who feel they are somehow stuck outside of an establishment.
The songs are reflections of the stages of a path from being unaware and skeptical of your own abilities (Maze) to accepting the journey to the totality of your own self (Leaves always fall in silence). If you can understand or have experienced these feelings before, you will understand what is behind the tracks of Art Brut and why we have chosen to put them in this form as you hear them.”

TUTV: Art Brut is a mind-boggling piece of instrumental work dominated by chainsaw guitars, repetitive Krautrock-like percussion, tons of feedback/distortion and terrifying plangency. No, it’s not just noise. It’s a fascinating, spine-chilling and well-structured trip into an inky universe that triggers your darkest imagination. No arty farty bullshit or special effects production for Naqoy.
At times Lou Reed‘s almost unlistenable 1975 album Metal Music Machine comes
to mind. His fuck you record label LP. The difference is that Art Brut is not only listenable
but also terrifically absorbing. There are moments my ears are intimidated and my puzzled mind loses contact with reality. Mind you, I like this sort of sonic electric chair experience. When played to max volume, you really can feel the music physically and psychically.
Closing track Leaves Always Fall in Silence is the pièce de résistance.
A pitch black 8.33-minute jam that sounds as if it was composed for
a hellish horror movie.

One of the best EPs I heard all year.
