PURRS – French Post-Punk Rebels Produce Tons Of ‘SEROTONIN’

Daily noise that works faster than any stimulant

16 December 2023

Band: PURRS
Who: 4 rebels from Angoulême, France who bring together
a singular artistic emergency drawn from Great Britain in the
80s and the current observation of a dark future, and orchestrate
a bitter present but which does not refuse hope.

New single: SEROTONIN

“Serotonin” explores the theme of anguish, addressing the inner conflict between
complete submission to this sensation and the reassuring hope that a part of us carries,
that of a better future where everything will improve. The track’s instrumental also seeks to convey this dynamic. It alternates between oppressive, distressing passages, punctuated by liberating refrains, offering a breath of fresh air.

TUTV: Schizophrenic guitars sounding like sirens, maddening drumming, cast-iron
bass riffs, and a vociferous vocalist who barks his lungs out with the same energetic ebullience of Idles‘ blabbermouth Joe Talbot. Aggressive stuff, right? You betcha.

Production of serotonin leads to adrenalin. Right here, the production goes out of hand causing an outburst of pent-up anger culminating in the end into an exploding climax. Hallelujah.
