The 10 new ones added this week
TRACK-BY-TRACK
Band: BIG MOUNTAIN COUNTY
Who: Group formed in Rome in 2013. The members were instantly
bonded over a mutual love for The Stooges, MC5, The Velvet Underground,
and Joe Spencer.
New track: FOLLOW ME
“It reveals a yet unexplored dimension of BMC, featuring a slow and relentless electronic beat with a primitive edge. It weaves together ethereal synthetic textures and edgy, strident guitars
to lay down a foundation for deep, alluring vocals, beckoning listeners to venture into the wild side, a dark paradise of artificial wonders and pleasures where the night is a point of no return.”
Follow Me is an ominous, bone-chilling, feverish,
psychedelic, mid-tempo jam. Fascinating stroke.

Band: JANE’S ADDICTION
Who: LA veteran rock band
fronted by Perry Farrell
Track: IMMINENT REDEMPTION
The group’s first new song with original line-up since
1990 album Ritual de lo Habitual and it cuts like a knife.
“To have everyone back together, releasing new music.
It’s time. Welcome to the next chapter of Jane’s Addiction.
‘Imminent Redemption’ is only the beginning.”

Band: HUNTINGS
Who: The product of James and Brian Edwards, brothers that eschewed
the need for a bass player, stripping back their sound to the core elements
of guitar, vocals and drums. In simplicity they found power.
Track: DOOM
This 2-piece sounds like an army of riff gunslingers assisted by an octopus drummer.
High-voltage electricity is what you get. Petrifying, clobbering, blood-curdling. For those about to rock Huntings salute you.
Hells bells. Doomsday is just around the corner.

‘You’ll Have To Lose Something’,
out August 23.
Short puzzling cut.

Band: MIHI NIHIL
Who: Experimental alt-rock band from Los Angeles
They released their self-titled debut LP in 2021.
Track: MOTH
Mihi Vox (vocals): “It feels like a winter song with all the dark tones it has”.
Nick Steinberg (bass): “I remember thinking that I wanted to play something
higher up on the neck, something similar to the Buzzcocks, but what ended up
coming out was more angular and stark like Gang of Four.”
Moth is pushed by a rotating bass riff, schizophrenic guitars, a muscular drum beat and
Vox‘s haunting vocals. It resonates like a nightmarish cry-out coming out of the darkness
into the blinding light. Spellbinding, demonic and spooky. Helter-skelter.

Band: THE MERINGUES
Who: Post-punk indies
from Ontario, Canada.
Track: SHAMBLES
Piece from their sophomore album, Pavlova’s Dog,
which will be available on September 16th.
Add Shambles to your Summer Party Playlist. It’s a crazy, kooky, and utterly cool
jump-up-and-down banger with mental guitars, a hammering drummer, and a
highly infectious sing-along chorus.
C’mon, join the fun.

Band: A CERTAIN RATIO
Who: Legendary post-punk act
from Manchester, UK
Track: CLOCKWORK ORANGE
Available on 7″. Info here.
ACR developed the funky-punky sound of the early days, over the years, into different sonic vibrations. Clockwork Orange is a first-class example of their evolution. Rad stuff.

Band: HINDS
Who: Spanish garage pop
fury, now reduced to a duo.
Track: SUPERSTAR
Cut from their 4th longplayer, titled
Viva Hinds will land on September 6.
It starts as a mellow pop tune but grows
slowly but surely into a euphoric firecracker.
Viva! Viva! Viva!

Artist: WILLIAM AX
Who: Brazilian born guitarist and singer-songwriter. Heavily influenced by the classic rock from the 60s and 70s and acoustic guitarists like Nick Frake, Sam Beam and many others from Brazilian popular music, his compositions bring an introspective view of his own feelings and life perspectives.
Track: THE VIOLINIST
“It’s an indie folk rock storytelling song. Its inspiration came when I was travelling around the countryside of Portugal, and this old violin player would be at the same corner playing every night, for hours and hours.”
The song features a classic rock style (drums, bass, guitar, piano) but with the obvious addition of an amazing violin track (performed by Atlantic Canyons). The violin riff and
solo gives this track an energetic, uplifting and nostalgic vibe.
Splendid!

Band: BATTLEMODE
Who: Chiptune electronic
pop trio from Boston.
“‘Playlist’ deals with a breakup or loss through music, and how songs and other unsuspecting things remind you of significant times in your life. The idea of having a love song about a playlist — something that exists in a digital format – also plays off of the idea of what our music’s message could be: We make digital music but still have a human touch, with Biff’s humanized instruments and Sam playing his guitar riffs. Musically, ‘Playlist’ is all about
mixing chiptune and pop to create a modern, 8-bit, original hit.”
Playlist is a tune about broken relationships, you can actually dance, swirl, and sway to.
It’s poppy, zippy and features a surprising rap moment, somewhere in the middle, that gives the song a cool twist. Dancefloor knockout.
