ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN Guitarist WILL SERGEANT Produced New COURTNEY LOVE Solo Album

26 November 2024

Last night Echo & The Bunnymen‘s guitarist and multi-instrumentalist
WILL SERGEANT posted this message on the band’s Facebook account.

“From @ Will Sergeant. Evening all my old friend Courtney Love has spilled the beans,
so I think I can now. Been working on her amazing new record. Been a trip, she gave
me complete artistic freedom. Loved every minute, autoharp, electric mandolin, Bulbul
Tarang, baritone guitar plus layers of 12 & 6 string guitars.

Courtney Love on Tik Tok about the album she already teased this past summer,
the day before Sergeant‘s announcement : “It’s the longest record that’s ever been written in the history of rock, so it better fuckin’ be good, no filler. I don’t do “collabs” — man, I hate that word! However, I have co-written songs with some people on this album. [REM’s Michael] Stipe mentioned our collaboration to The New York Times. I fell down weeping hearing his voice — it’s better than ever! I thought I knew the outcome, but I’m still the grasshopper while Michael is the sensei. There are others I can’t mention; I didn’t intend for any collaborations.

I did ask PJ Harvey to come back — I wanted just one of her great iconic Stones guitar riffs. We have a relationship; I’ve endorsed her over the decades, but she chose not to respond to me. So I wrote her about how fucking rude that was. Her manager tried to smooth things over, but it’s not okay — she hasn’t played rock music in 100 years! Her first five albums are great; after that, she ventured into art space (though I do love the Last Living Rose, which feels like a John Donne poem with… WTF? A tuba?.

Kurt Cobain‘s infamous widow COURTNEY LOVE released 4 albums
with Hole and one solo LP, named America’s Sweetheart 20 years
ago, in 2004.

She also played in 7 movies. Trust me, she’s a great actress.

SEX PISTOLS Released Debut Single ‘ANARCHY IN THE U.K.’ This Day In 1976

The SEX PISTOLS released their controversial debut single ANARCHY IN THE U.K.,
one of the fiercest punk anthems ever, on 26 November 1976, 48 years ago today.

It was originally issued in a plain black sleeve and peaked at #38 on the UK Singles
Chart, although it was either ignored or negatively received by the music press.

Their label EMI dropped the band a few months later, in January 1977.

Their manager at the time, the late Malcolm McLaren said the song was
“a call to arms to the kids who believe that rock and roll was taken away from
them. It’s a statement of self rule, of ultimate independence.”

In a new NME interview with Glenn Matlock (68 now), the former pistols’ bassist
said about the politically far-right turned Johnny Forgotten Rotten: “He wrote some
great lyrics, but did he really mean ‘em? Ah, that’s the thing. I never found him that
sincere.”

They dropped three preview tracks so far, with
ear-splitting monster WHIPLASH as the new one.

I have no idea what vocalist Sam Carter eats, drinks
or swallows but his vocal range and unreal stamina
is beyond belief. Of course, it helps when you have
4 lungs.

Wake up people,
go straight to YT,
and scare yourself
and your neighbours.

AMANDA KEELEY – Canadian Folk-Pop Songstress Charms And Allures With New Single ‘BETTER DAYS’

Daily electricity to load your batteries

25 November 2024

Artist: AMANDA KEELEY
Who: Canadian singer-songwriter who has swiftly carved a niche for herself as
a spellbinding indie-folk artist. Her music, imbued with the raw, emotional depth
of a seasoned soul, draws listeners into an intimate world of lyrical storytelling and melodic artistry. Her voice, often likened to the resonant tones of Sara Bareilles, the heartfelt authenticity of Brandi Carlile, and the haunting melancholy of City and Colour, serves as a bridge between the timeless traditions of folk and the contemporary sensibilities of modern music.

Single: BETTER DAYS

A story about the realization a relationship has come to an end.
The lyrics touch on the beauty within the contrast of what the
experience had to offer.

Keeley: “The words came to me at a time where I needed help processing the loss and letting go of a longtime relationship. I’m grateful for this song finding its way through me as it helped immensely with closure and moving forward from a place of love.

As a songwriter I interpret many life experiences through songs. In this case I found myself with certain lines floating through my mind like “thought we were more than this, let us go, let it die, all the flowers have dried and just dust in the wind”. It really felt like the perfect way to clearly communicate how I was feeling. The grief I was experiencing was pretty intense; the “flowers” felt like a representation of the need for a funeral of sorts to really grieve this loss, and once the flowers ‘dried and just dust in the wind,’ this was me coming to terms with it being over and letting go.”

TUTV: Better Days is a bittersweet folky pop gem. A heartfelt reflection on how
to come to terms with a relation break-up and feeling better afterward. Familiar
emotions to countless people on our troubled planet.

Keeley‘s warm and alluring voice carries this infectious tune all the way, with cordial
charm and emotive endearment, reminiscent of living legend Joni Mitchell‘s uplifting moments. Americana the Canadian way. Comforting and inspirational.
