REAL FARMER – Dutch Indie Tornado Twist Your Head With Speedy Anti-War Missile ‘BIG STEPPER’

Daily noise that works faster than a stream of caffeine

27 March 2025

Band: REAL FARMER
Who: Outspoken Dutch rebels, inspired by heartaches and lonesome travels.
They released their debut album Compare What’s There last year.

Single: BIG STEPPER
Piece from their upcoming
EP RF II, out on May 2.

Real Farmer: “We live in a time when the number of countries in conflict is the highest since WWII. Big Stepper is about the global rise of the far-right and with it the dangers of extremism and patriotism. It’s about how young men and women are being seduced by their governments to join the army, convinced that this will help them combat their feelings of hopelessness and enhance their chances for a better future, but often it has the opposite effect, leaving them traumatised and forlorn.”

TUTV: In 1969 Edwin Star shouted from the top of his lungs: “War, what is it good for? Absolutely Nothing. Unfortunately, as long as power-greedy world leaders rule, wars
will be fought. These belligerent days are another loud and clear example of the devastating nature of schizophrenic politicians. And it’s not over yet, far from it.

We need artists/bands like Real Farmer to write songs about the ongoing madness. You never know if somebody will listen someday. Enter Big Stepper. A shattering Krautrock-like missile with a sonic force, loud and aggressive enough to deafen egomaniacal cruel psychos like Trump, Putin and Netanyahu.

Real Farmer rotate non-stop, on and on, just as the late great Alan Vega loved to freak
out back then, and British mavericks such as Deathletter and The Murder Capital love to
do today. No rest for the wicked, no mercy for fascists, no licence to kill… for nobody.

The accompanying video features striking images that depict the
steady dehumanisation of military recruits and the horrors of war.
