Scottish Indies THE TWILIGHT SAD Stirr With New Grevious Single ‘WAITING FOR THE PHONE CALL’ Featuring ROBERT SMITH

1 November 2025

Scottish romantic indies THE TWILIGHT SAD have been
around for a while, actually, since 2003. So far they have
released (only) 5 longplayers.

Despite a hiatus here and there, they always
came back and they’re still active to this day.

In the past they went on several tours with goth greats
The Cure on several occasions. That’s when Robert Smith
became a huge fan.

They’re back now with their first single in 6 years.
It’s called WAITING FOR THE TELEPHONE CALL
and Robert Smith plays guitar on it.

James Graham (bandleader) about the song: “Waiting For The Phone Call” is about
grief, love, and mental illness. These things took over my life, and I became ill. I lost the
person most important to me in one of the cruelest ways. I’ve always used writing as a
method of processing and coping with my emotions.

The past seven years had been both the escape and the opportunity to process and try and make sense of life. We’ve all been waiting on a phone call that can change our lives at some point. This unfortunately focuses on a phone call that you never want to have.”

It’s an intense rocker.
Dark, gloomy, and liberating.
Bone-chilling belter.
