British electro pop outfit HEAVEN 17 who feature former Human League
members Martyn Ware and Ian Craig Marsh, scored their biggest successes
in the 80s.

The trio is still playing live shows.

On 6 March 1981, today 45 years ago they released their best known
song, debut single (WE DON’T NEED THIS) FASCIST GROOVE THANG.

It was part of their debut LP Penthouse And Pavement .

The lyrics of the song refer to two political leaders of the time,
Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and President Ronald Reagan
and include denunciations of both racism and fascism.

Of course, the hypocrites at the BBC banned the single.
A big reason for reaching only spot 45 on the Charts.

Now, raise your middle finger to all fascists and racists of today.
