Jamaican reggae/soul duo DAVE AND ANSIL COLLINS scored
their biggest hit with DOUBLE BARREL It topped the US Charts
on 1 May 1971, today 55 years ago.

In Europe, the single was already released a
year before and topped the UK singles chart.

It was written by Jamaican songwriter,
vocalist and producer Winston Riley.

This song was the first appearance on record by big-time
drummer Sly Dunbar (1952-2026), later of reggae duo
Sly & Robbie. He was just 18 at the time.
