The late eccentric, musical virtuoso FRANK ZAPPA (1940-1993) and his outlandish
band THE MOTHERS OF INVENTION released their (double) debut album FREAK OUT!
today 60 years ago, on 27 June 1966.

Often cited as one of rock music’s first concept albums, it was also one of the first
double ones. The record was Zappa‘s satirical perception of the American pop culture
at the time and of the nascent freak scene of Los Angeles. It meant also the start of
the musical phenomenon’s spectacular and astounding career.
