Significant longplayers from yesteryear
28 August 2026
Band: PUDDLE OF MUDD
Who: Famed grunge rockers from Kansas City
running amok since 1992 and still going strong.
Last year they released their 9th LP, Kiss The Machine.
Anniversary Album: COME CLEAN
Their 2nd.
Released on 28 August 2001, today 25 years ago.
It was POM’s biggest hit on the US Billboard 200, peaking at number 9, despite mixed critical verdicts. The album has sold over 5,000,000 copies and was certified 3× Platinum by the RIAA. It peaked at #12 on the UK Charts.
Flavorwire (NYC-based cultural magazine) said, “Sadly, grunge led straight to post-grunge,
a genre that retained grunge’s guitar sound and jettisoned everything else that made it special. The result was torpid pseudo-grunge. Like this album, for instance.”
Loudwire (US Magazine) wrote in retrospect: “Though they’ve released seve other albums since, Puddle of Mudd never surpassed the success they had with Come Clean, making it the best offering of their catalog.”
