The late great motormouth OZZY OSBOURNE (1948-2025) released the 2nd
of his 13 solo albums, named DIARY OF A MADMAN, today 45 years ago,
on 7 November 1981.
The recordings were messy, with Ozzy leaving the
studio regularly to get drunk in a nearby pub.
Drummer Lee Kerslake: “It was only when Sharon [Osbourne] came in that we
had a problem. When she started managing, taking over, she wasn’t the manager
until Diary of a Madman. Before that was her brother, David.”
The album’s cover art features Osbourne’s
son Louis to his side, while the madman
poses in theatrical make-up.
It peaked at #16 in the US and #14 in the UK.
