THE DANDY WARHOLS are, without a shadow of a doubt, the supreme kings (and a
cool queen) of psychedelic grooves and chill-out jams. This non-stop-dope-vibe-turbo
was conceived in Portland, Oregon back in 1994 by charismatic frontman Courtney Taylor-Taylor and guitarist Peter Holmström. They were joined by keyboardist Zia McCabe and drummer Eric Hedford, replaced in 1998 by Taylor-Taylor‘s cousin Brent DeBoer.

They started their sonic explorations in 1995 with debut longplayer ‘Dandys Rule OK!‘.
And they still bloody rule! With a total of ten studio albums it was hard to pick only
15 solid gold crackers to fill our Wurlitzer. Anyway, here’s Turn Up The Volume‘s jiving selection. Every day should be a Dandy Warhols holiday. Stay home, stay safe and listen

PIXIES are without a shadow of a doubt one of the most influential bands ever.
Their famous loudQuietloud approach, their stop/start turbulence, their charged
punk explosiveness inspired countless new as well as plenty of established bands.

This rowdy 4-piece redefined kick-ass noise rock with a big bang. Their rumbustious combination of a whacking rhythm section (drummer David Lovering and gigantic bassist Kim Deal) – now Paz Lenchantin – fantabulous guitar electricity (Joey Santiago) and a most trenchant vox (Black Francis) resulted in a crushing sound with a sharp ear for melodious grandeur and magnetizing choruses. Also, the intertwining male/female vocals/harmonies fueled many of their massive crackers with a kind of glamorous pigment. Legends forever…

Texan psychedelic turbine THE BLACK ANGELS are one of Turn Up The Volume‘s favorite mind-expanding sound explorers (last year’s ‘Death Song‘ LP is their masterpiece so far). Since 2004 these far-out angels are actually making soundtracks to be played in hell…

Astounding grooves and transcendent vibes that glow in the darkness. Spine-chilling trips exploring the dark side of humankind and the obscure complexity of people’s inflammable emotions. They operate in a sonic galaxy of their own on a quest for pure sanity. After five mesmerizing albums, this psychotropic unit created enough monumental compositions, towering orchestrations and staggering jams to fill a Wurlitzer. TURN UP THE VOLUME’s Jiving Jukebox – Here Are… THROWING MUSES

The Jukebox Series: only the greats can fill a Wurlitzer with memorable moments…

THROWING MUSES were formed in 1981 in Newport, Rhode Island by two tremendously singer-songwriters, Kristin Hersh and half-sister Tanya Donelly (who left in 1993 to
join The Breeders for a while, before starting her own shining band Belly). A high-quality songwriting band throughout its long (with a couple of breaks, Hersh‘s solo albums and line-up changes) succesful career. Overall the Muses approach to pop music was always emotionally electrifying, weirdly catchy, artistically challenging and of course Hersh‘ voice was/is one of a wondrous kind and her harmonies with Donelly‘s angelic vox generated several standout sparks. Chosing the usual 15 songs to fill the Wurlitzer wasn’t easy at all.

After multiple changes/additions/deletes forth & back,
