NOW PLAYING! New Album By Brooklyn’s Shoegazers DIIV – Here’s ‘DECEIVER’…

6 October 2019

Band: DIIV (Brooklyn, New York)

Album: Deceiver

Released: 4 October 2019

Quote: The band’s singer/songwriter and mastermind Cole Smith says: “I’ve known everyone in the band for ten years plus separately and together as DIIV for at least the past five years. On ‘Deceiver’, I’m talking about working for the relationships in my life, repairing them, and accepting responsibility for the places I’ve failed them. I had to re-approach the band. It wasn’t restarting from a clean slate, but it was a new beginning. It took time—as it did with everybody else in my life—but we all grew together and learned how to communicate and collaborate.”

Sound: A absorbing collection of profound and electrical meditations. From melancholic reveries to fully charged flare-ups. A varied melodious palette with tons of guitar layers reminding me at times of legendary noiseniks My Bloody Valentine, and a fully charged emotional shoegaze intensity at its gripping best.

NOW PLAYING! The Long Awaited New CHROMATICS Album Is Out Now – Here’s ‘CLOSER TO GREY’…

2 October 2019

Portland‘s electro collective CHROMATICS announced their new album to be released already at the end of 2014 but so far, until last night, no new longplayer. But, suddenly,
a few weeks ago the band shared a cover of the late folk singer-songwriter Jackson C. Frank’s song ‘I WANT TO BE ALONE (DIALOGUE)’ and confirmed to play the Pitchfork Music Festival in Paris on 1 November.

And now, suddenly out of the blue here’s, finally, the brand new Chromatics‘ LP, titled CLOSER TO GREY (after a track issued several years ago) instead of the early chosen title ‘Dear Tommy‘. The record contains covers of Simon and Garfunkel and The Jesus & Mary Chain translated into the band’s dreamy textures. After just one spin the feeling is that there’s so much to experience. Let’s just do this together right here…
