Toronto‘s noise generator METZ celebrate the 10th anniversary

This taster, titled DREGS OF WINE
off the new LP is a burning belter.
Expect a rollicking ripper bucking up all the way. A sterling crackerjack that

made an auspicious entrance onto the music scene last year.

For this new composition, the duo’s minds went down memory lane
to get inspired by the musical preferences of their
adolescent years.
They came back and cemented the experiences of those bygone
times for the future, in a song. The End Of The Beginning is a shoegaze rainbow,
but one that’s sepia colored. The mood is blue-sky, idyllic, and halcyon. So is
the musing’s slo-mo progression, Frøkedal‘s foggy vocals, and the glowing

New 4-track EP: HEY! I SEE YOU
Follows close into the footsteps of the band’s splendid
debut album Turn To Rust.
After the funky punky foreplay Prologue (Shallow) spiced with sexy vocals
it’s swing-shake-sway your hips time with Hey! propelled by a sultry synth/bass
beat and psyched with freakish guitar turbulence. From there on it’s full throttle
to an obscure climax with a 2-part Epilogue.
Merciless, non-stop head-spinning Krautrock rhythms drive you into a nervous
breakdown in the end. Once again, the overpowering force of repetition shows
its mind-bedazzing impact. And as the narrator warns, correctly, we should not
try to examine every dream that pops up on our screen in our head. We need all
of our strengths, to deal with our fucked-up reality.
“The song conjures the computer-nerd New Wave idiosyncrasies of DEVO
or Talking Heads, and brings in some dark, dance-y New Order elements.
Then, as soon as the listener has become accustomed to that particular vibe,
the song morphs into a driving ’90s techno hypnosis with energetic female vocals.
It’s both a journey and a mishmash of all the elements that have led us here,
and even though it’s overlapping and trippy, it’s ultimately a ton of fun.”
