To Hell With Blue Mondays – Go Completely Mental With THE FRANKLYS And Their Knockout Fireball ‘KEEPER’…

Weekly firework to kick Blue Mondays in the face…

6 November 2017

DSC01732

As a male feminist myself I’m thrilled to see/hear so many girls bands, such as Pins, Dream Nails, Madonnatron, deux furieuses, and several more stepping up in the UK to kick some macho men’s asses. After more than two thousands years of masculine domination, the time is perfectly right for a female revolution with a LOUD & CLEAR rock and roll artillery as its sonic weapon. One of the roaring best of the colorful pack are THE FRANKLYS. A London-based 4-piece mean machine who released boiling debut longplayer ‘Are You Listening’ last May. Recently the band launched a swirling video for blasting third single KEEPER. After a menacing bass/drum intro singer Jennifer Ahlkvist‘s magnetizing vox
comes on accompanied by ferocious guitars. Suddenly this hypnotizing knockout gets nastier, sharper and really hot-blooded. Wham Bloody Big Bam! Cutting masterstroke! Beware, folks, they got their eyes on you, here’s the fireball…

I knew you wanted more after you experienced this vital power.
Here’s some more dynamite to go completely bananas…

To Hell With Blue Mondays – Here’s Post Punk Force ‘HELTA SKELTA’ From Down Under…

Weekly firework to kick Blue Mondays in the ass…

Band: HELTA SKELTA (Perth, Australia)
Who: “After a few full-length records, a few EPs, and a US tour in 2016, ‘Helta Skelta’ are now back with a new 7″. Here, Helta Skelta change things up yet again, never one to let things dull. This 7” sees the band head into a sparser territory, favouring the British and US over the Australian sounds. A much more art rock and post-punk outing this time round whilst still holding on to those aspects of 70s garage punk from previous efforts.”
Track: NIGHTCLUBBIN’ – Lead track of a brand new 3-song 7″…
Score: the track’s repetitive and hypnotizing bass/drums drive, electrified with cracking guitar licks and snippets of an organ in the back, will infiltrate your bloodstream instantly. On top of it comes a kind of punky spoken word rap that reminds me of British actor Phil Daniels ‘s verbal part in Blur‘s 1994 hit ‘Parklife’ and it works here perfectly too. This is a snappy stroke you’ll play on repeat after one spin. Here’s the sticky cut…

To Hell With Blue Mondays – Here’s Rock & Roll Bitch… COURTNEY LOVE

Weekly havoc to kick Blue Mondays in the ass…

You love or you hate her. After reading her 1998 biography Courtney Love: The Real Story by Poppy Z. Brite, years ago, I became a fan. I learned that Love had a miserable childhood and grew up without actually nobody, just nobody, taking care of her. This would affect her mental balance for the rest of her life (and, unfortunately, personally I know very well how psychological problems can mess up one’s mind). But she chose to survive, to fight back and to achieve something and she definitely did, with a middle finger for all those who branded her as a greedy opportunist. Yes, I love LOVE. She was amazing as an actress (The People vs. Larry Flynt / Man on the Moon) and even though she was not an outstanding musician she had brilliant moments with her band Hole (two great albums: Live Through This / Celebrity Skin). I saw her performing live twice and it was bloody ace. Here’s the one and only genuine rock and roll bitch…

Weekly vibes to kick Blue Mondays in the ass…

bluemondayremedy

London’s electro party duo FERAL FIVE will release new 4-track EP MAN CAT DOLL MACHINE this Friday, 31 March. A quite special project as the songs were written
and recorded to soundtrack a Picasso Portraits event in London last January curated
by Martyn Ware (keyboard wizard and founding member of The Human League and Heaven 17). This steamy EP has all firework ingredients to start this week with a bang
and blow this Blue Monday into oblivion. The swirling dance tracks are injected with elevating synths, a powerful disco drive and Kate Five‘s energetic voice to stimulate
all your senses and vitalize your lazy limbs. It’s party time! Right here, right now!…
