cover, we get her version of a heartfelt song by jazz/soul heroine
Billie Holiday (1915-1959)

DAVE GROHL And GREG KURSTIN Keep On Rockin’ In The Hanukkah World

To celebrate this year’s Hanukkah, the traditional Jewish
Festivals Of Lights Foo Fighter DAVE GROHL and producer
GREG KURSTIN got together for some smoking covers, like the
Ramones classic Blitzkrieg Bop (Joey ‘Jeffery Hyman’ and Tommy
‘Thomas Erdelyi’ were Jewish.)

Another one – just shared – is their take
on Van Halen‘s 1984 blockbuster Jump.

“Quite possibly the loudest and proudest of hard-rocking Jews, David
Lee Roth has gone on record crediting his Bar Mitzvah preparation as his
earliest vocal training. He became a rock star the day he became a man,”
said the duo.

Synth Pop Duo LA ROUX Covers GANG OF FOUR

London’s synth-pop duo featuring singer
Elly Jackson and producer Ben Langmaid
Active: Since 2006 / 3 studio albums

La Roux is part – along Idles, Gary Numan, Warpaint and more – of
the double LP called The Problem Of Leisure. A tribute to Andy Gill,
the late genial guitarist of post-punk sensation Gang Of Four, who
passed away on 1st February last year – only 64 – due to multiple
organ failure and pneumonia. The records came out last June.

La Roux picked DAMAGED GOODS, GO4’s best-known track,
but not the easiest one to cover unless you turn it entirely upside
down like it happens here with a hip-shaking reggae-like vibe.

Damage some goods here…

The cover is now part of a new 6-track La Roux EP with no less
than 5 remixes of the song. You can stream it all on Spotify.

What Turn Up The Volume plays/watches between two coffees today

CITYROCKS is labeled the biggest rock band in Central Europe.
The Romanian mega-group of 150 contains vocalists, guitarists,
bassists, and drummers of all ages.

They just performed at the yearly Romanian CityRocks Festival.
After covering Nirvana‘s hit ‘Come As You Are’ and Metallica‘s classic
‘Enter Sandman’ before they now picked Green Day cracker.
Boulevard Of Broken Dreams.

SPOON Celebrate Christmas THE BEATLES WAY

Texan rockers SPOON, led by energetic frontman/songwriter Britt
Daniel canned their 9th full-length Hot Thoughts and will it throw at
the world on 17 March 2022 via Matador Records.

But first things first. A cover of a 1967 Beatles Xmas song
titled Christmas Time Is Here Again as part of the Spotify
Singles Holiday Edition 2021.

Daniel: “Recording ‘Christmas Time Is Here Again’ was a group effort that
pulled us away from rehearsals and sent us speeding down a path fueled by
what you might call the Christmas spirit. And it’s our song with the most band
members doing vocals ever – pretty sure you can count four.

Info: Last year’s Tweedy solo album ‘Love Is King‘ gets
a special treatment. A two cd set with the original album
and one with live versions of the tracks and some covers
lands on 10 December and a vinyl release comes in 2022.

First taster is a cover of a Neil Young song called The Old Country Waltz
The opener from his grand 1977 album American Stars ‘N Bars (with classic
Like A Hurricane on it).

life, most of the musicians got a lot of free time and many of them

Next week the tribute album, titled I’LL BE YOUR MIRROR:
A TRIBUTE TO THE VELVET UNDERGROUND arrives. A star
studded cast pays homage to one of the most iconic and most
influential bands in rock history, and more specifically to their
classic ‘banana’ debut LP from 1967.
