COURTNEY LOVE – ‘Celebrity Skin’ – Live With 1000 Italian Musicians…

Ecstatic live performances…

Three years ago Foo Fighters played  ‘Learn To Fly‘ with 100 Italian musicians.  Last July, the Italy’s Rockin 1000 returned once more to perform with Courtney Love at That’s Live 2018, a charity event that took place at Florence’s Artemio Franchi Stadium. Two Hole songs were performed: Celebrity Skin and Malibu. Now we can see some totally ecstatic footage of the first. Oil your lungs and scream along right here…

Courtney Love‘s band Hole celebrated the 20th anniversary
of their kick-ass Celebrity Skin  album last month…

HOLE Released Their Third Kick-Ass ‘CELEBRITY SKIN’ Longplayer 20 Years Ago…

Going back in sonic history looking for memorable albums…

7 September 2018

Band: HOLE

Album: CELEBRITY SKIN – the band’s third LP

Released: 8 September – 20 years ago

ROLLING STONE review: ” ‘Celebrity Skin’ is an album about fame, beauty, life and their opposites… It’s sprung, flung and fun, high-impact, rock-fueled pop with the body and flexibility of really good hair… You don’t need to know or love Courtney Love — to care about her highly chronicled trek from ripped cropped tops to Versace gowns — to enjoy this album. Even Love herself, though, can’t deny her own myth: In the album’s very first verse, she casts herself as “a walking study/In demonology.” On Celebrity Skin, she isn’t especially after journalistic precision, and she isn’t devising some glam plan to seem brilliant. She just knows exactly the kind of rock star she wants to be, and is it.” – Score: 4/5 – Full review here

TURN UP THE VOLUME! says: Courtney Love’s middle-finger to all her haters.
Celebrity Skin is a kick-ass, spit and sneer, glam grunge beast.

TURN UP THE VOLUME’s JIVING JUKEBOX – Get Rid Of Your Nasty Demons With… COURTNEY LOVE

The Jukebox Series: only the greats can fill a Wurlitzer…

One of the media’s former favorite targets and so-called psycho (read: bipolar, hurt, abandoned by her closed ones as a teenager, confused, outspoken, confused, straight
in your face, yes like so many of us, totally HUMAN) COURTNEY LOVE can fill a shiny Wurtlizer, easily. If you can’t believe this I guess you were paying too much attention
to all the sensational bullshit stories on her private life invented by the pathetic gutter press (she had a fucked up teenage life, no doubt about that, just read the right biography to find out why, not the fucking paparazzi rubbish). And yes, she wasn’t a great musician, but bloody hell, she wrote a series of smashing killer crackers nobody can ignore!! From the brutal Teenage Whore to the heartbreaking, confessional ballad that Letter To God is. And she was one of the hottest rock and roll performers I saw on a podium. A genuine primal scream grunge legend in my own borderline book. Oil your vocal chords, you’ll definitely need them to clamor along with L.O.V.E…

Tracks selected from the four HOLE albums: Pretty On The Inside (1991) /
Live Through This (1994) / Celebrity Skin (1998) / Nobody’s Daughter (2010)
and her only full solo record America’s Sweetheart (2004)

Back in 2010 I saw LOVE twice – in the legendary Paradiso in Amsterdam and in, the
later deeply deceived, Bataclan Venue in Paris. Here’s Courtney covering The Rolling Stones in Amsterdam (me, fourth row). She looked cool, healthy and happy. And she was just brilliant that night. An icon forever!…

To Hell With Blue Mondays – Here’s Rock & Roll Bitch… COURTNEY LOVE

Weekly havoc to kick Blue Mondays in the ass…

You love or you hate her. After reading her 1998 biography Courtney Love: The Real Story by Poppy Z. Brite, years ago, I became a fan. I learned that Love had a miserable childhood and grew up without actually nobody, just nobody, taking care of her. This would affect her mental balance for the rest of her life (and, unfortunately, personally I know very well how psychological problems can mess up one’s mind). But she chose to survive, to fight back and to achieve something and she definitely did, with a middle finger for all those who branded her as a greedy opportunist. Yes, I love LOVE. She was amazing as an actress (The People vs. Larry Flynt / Man on the Moon) and even though she was not an outstanding musician she had brilliant moments with her band Hole (two great albums: Live Through This / Celebrity Skin). I saw her performing live twice and it was bloody ace. Here’s the one and only genuine rock and roll bitch…
