JULIANA HATFIELD Can’t Get ELO Out Of Her Head

20 July 2023

Flamboyant American alt-rocker JULIANA HATFIELD
has been around for a while now, actually since 1986.

The past few years, she showed that she’s a sucker for covering other
(celebrated) artist’s songs. She even made full albums of it. One with
Olivia-Newton John tunes (2018) and one with The Police songs.

And she keeps on doing the same. Her next cover LP is dedicated to melodic pop/rock masters ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA (ELO), led by the tremendous hit-smith Jeff Lynne.

The 10-track LP is out on 17 November. More info here.

After sharing her take on Don’t Bring Me Down we get her version
of the downhearted 1974 ballad CAN’T GET IT OUT OF MY MIND.

She does it with endearment and elegance.

Tune in

Waking Up… Singing Happy Birthday To The Wonderful JULIANA HATFIELD

Works faster than caffeine

27 July 2022

Singer-songwriter JULIANA HATFIELD was born in Boston on 27 July 1967.

Happy 55 to the sassy rocker who played in bands such as Blake Babies, Some Girls,
The Lemonheads (with Evan Dando), and her own group The Hatfield Three. In between
all that fuss she had her debut solo, LP Hey Babe, out in 1992. She actually never took
a break. Last year her 19th longplayer, called Blood landed.

I just sang Happy Birthday To You, Juliana under the shower but before
ruining your morning I’d better play one of her songs to celebrate the lady.

I picked Universal Heart-Beat. The avid single from her 1995 album Only Everything.

Last month she shared her version of the daft, yet sickly sticky sing along
tune De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da. Now here’s her take on ‘NEXT TO YOU
from The Police‘s 1978 album Outlandos D’Amour.
