In July 2017 devastating news hit the huge fan base of nu-metal rockers
LINKIN PARK when the passing of frontman Chester Bennington was
announced. He committed suicide at the age of 41.

The Californian band released 7 albums between
2000 and 2007 and their future was in doubt.

But last year their rebirth was announced with a new line-up featuring long-time members Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Dave “Phoenix” Farrell, and Joe Hahn, alongside two newcomers Emily Armstrong of grunge rockers Dead Sara and drummer Colin Brittain (songwriter, producer for G Flip, Illenium).

Last November, with new album FROM ZERO the hard-hitting
and clamorous attack team celebrated their big return officially.

And yesterday their new album, baptized FROM ZERO came out.
Yes, they start again from scratch with Emily Armstrong as the new
vocal heroine Emily Armstrong next to Mike Shinoda. The range of
her voice is insane and scrapes the sky on repeat.

Shinoda about the album: “Before Linkin Park, our first band name was Xero. This album title refers to both this humble beginning and the journey we’re currently undertaking. Sonically and emotionally, it is about past, present, and future — embracing our signature sound, but new and full of life. It was made with a deep appreciation for our new and longtime bandmates, our friends, our family, and our fans. We are proud of what Linkin Park has become over the years, and excited about the journey ahead.”

Kerrang‘s verdict: “Sure, not every song is something to write home about, and not everyone is going to be on board with a new singer, but as a piece of work, it’s a clear reminder of why Linkin Park reached the heights they did and continue to influence multiple generations of artists. Welcome back.”

LINKIN PARK Re-Animate Rare Powerhouse Track ‘QWERTY’

LINKIN PARK Share Previously Unreleased Goosebumps Power Ballad ‘FRIENDLY FIRE’ From Their Upcoming ‘Best Of’ Collection

Daily noise that works faster than any stimulent

27 February 2024

Californian veteran rockers LINKIN PARK launch a career-spanning best-of collection, named PAPERCUTS (Singles Collection 2000-2023) on April 12 via Warner Records.

It’ll feature FRIENDLY FIRE. A mid-tempo power ballad that was
recorded in 2017 during the sessions of their One More Light LP,
but so far not officially released.

It’s one of the last songs sung by the late, charismatic frontman
Chester Bennington, who took his own life the same year.

Brad Delson (guitarist) “Friendly Fire” was always one of the band’s favorite songs from
the One More Light sessions. “Something about it wasn’t quite right, so as close as it got to the finish line, we chose to set it aside for later. When we started looking for an unreleased track to include on our greatest hits collection, I was blown away by the power of the song, the power of the storytelling, the power of the vocal, the sonic landscape, and I actually thought that it was closer than maybe we had realized at the time. We got together to work on it and connect some of the missing pieces that for whatever reason hadn’t revealed themselves during the recording of One More Light. I can’t wait for people to hear it. It’s such a beautiful, compelling, heartbreaking, hopeful story, and it really resonates with me today.”
