In July 2017 devastating news hit the huge fan base of nu-metal rockers
LINKIN PARK when the passing of frontman Chester Bennington was
announced. He committed suicide at the age of 41.
The Californian band released 7 albums between 2000 and 2007 and
their future was in doubt. But a couple of weeks ago re-start rumours
were confirmed.
It’s official. LP are back with a new line-up. Long-time members Mike Shinoda,
Brad Delson, Dave “Phoenix” Farrell, and Joe Hahn, alongside two newcomers
Emily Armstrong of grunge rockers Dead Sara and drummer Colin Brittain
(songwriter, producer for G Flip, Illenium).
They have canned a new longplayer, baptized From Zero. Yes, they start again
from scratch. The LP will hit the streets on November 15th. Pre-order info here.
Shinoda about the album: “Before Linkin Park, our first band name was Xero. This album title refers to both this humble beginning and the journey we’re currently undertaking. Sonically and emotionally, it is about past, present, and future — embracing our signature sound, but new and full of life. It was made with a deep appreciation for our new and longtime bandmates, our friends, our family, and our fans. We are proud of what Linkin Park has become over the years, and excited about the journey ahead.”
With the comeback news came first high-voltage single The Emptiness Machine,
already more than 100 million streams in just 3 weeks, with the first performance
of Emily Armstrong, alongside co-vocals by Shinoda.
And here comes second taster HEAVY IS THE CROWN. Shinoda does the rap
verses and Emily takes care of a mammoth chorus. The sheer explosive power!
Holy smoke!
