‘World In Motion’ by NEW ORDER

The theme song for England’s national football team’s 1990 FIFA World Cup campaign. It features a rap sequence by England footballer John Barnes, additional vocals by several members of the whole team, and comedian Keith Allen, who had co-written the lyric. It’s New Order‘s only No 1 in the UK

We’re singing for England (England)
Arrivederci, it’s one on one…

I’m sure England’s world will be in drunk motion
when the team becomes EURO 2020 Champion.

Happy B. HOOKY!

If there’s one bass player you always recognize when he pulls his strings it’s PETER HOOK also known as HOOKY. The man who created a sound that was fundamental and essential for Joy Division as well as for New Order. The man who plays his beloved instrument as if it has six strings instead of four. Hooky‘s resonance is unique and ageless as he still proves, for years now, with his band The Light, on stages around the globe.

Today is his 65th birthday! Happy B. Hooky!

Let’s celebrate with these four standouts…

– LOVE WILL TEAR US APART –
(Joy Division classic)

– ATMOSPHERE –
(Joy Division classic – with awesome soul voice Rowetta)

TEMPTATION –
(New Order)

– ARIES –
(A superb song by Gorillaz with Hooky here on vocals instead of
Damon Albarn. It’s on their new Song Machine album)

BIG BLASTS FROM THE PAST – 5 Awesome Albums Turning 35 In 2021

– Throwing Muses – THROWING MUSES

Released: September 1986 – debut LP
AllMusic: “Throwing Muses’ self-titled 1986 debut is still a startling collision of punk energy, folky melodicism, and Kristin Hersh’s mercurial voice and lyrics… A powerful debut, Throwing Muses puts the work of most self-consciously “tortured” artists to shame; its fluid, effortless emotional shifts may not make for the most accessible music, but they’re unquestionably genuine.” Score: 5/5.

– Licensed to Ill – BEASTIE BOYS

Released: 15 November 1986 – debut LP
AllMusic: “Perhaps Licensed to Ill was inevitable, a white group blending rock and rap, giving them the first number one album in hip-hop history. But that reading of the album’s history gives short shrift to the Beastie Boys; producer Rick Rubin, and his label, Def Jam… The Beastie Boys fueled this record through their passion for subcultures, pop culture, jokes, and the intoxicating power of wordplay.” Score: 5/5.

.
– Brotherhood – NEW ORDER

Released: 29 September 1986 – fourth LP
AllMusic: “This was a New Order with nothing more to prove – witness the tossed-off
lyrics – aside from continuing to make great music… the songs and the band’s production
had reached such a high level.
Score: 4/5.

.
– Candy Apple Grey – HÜSKER DÜ

Released: March 1986 – fifth LP
AllMusic: “Moving to a major label doesn’t affect Hüsker Dü’s sound greatly — although the production is more full-bodied than Spot’s razor-thin work, the Hüskers don’t change their blazing attack at all.” Score: 3.5/5.

.
– Your Funeral… My Trial – NICK CAVE & THE BAD SEEDS

Released: 3 November 1986 – fourth LP
AllMusic: “The Bad Seeds turn from the interpretive triumph of Kicking Against the Pricks to another strong high, the mostly-original ‘Your Funeral…My Trial’… Arguably Cave and company have by now so clearly established their overall style that the album is much more a refinement of the past than anything else, but so good is their work that resistance is near impossible.” Score: 4/5.

Spanish Directed Video Clip For Latest Single ‘BE A REBEL’ By NEW ORDER

Clips that will have an impact on your eyes and your ears…

3 December 2020

Synth-pop driven single BE A REBEL was NEW ORDER‘s first
new music (sounding old) since 2016 album Music Complete.

A quite eye-catching video clip made by Spanish director NYSU
rotates now on YouTube.

The band about the director: “We’d previously worked with NYSU from
Madrid when they created a memorable video for us to go with ‘Restless’
and their imagination and creativity with film really struck a chord with
the band.”

Take The Money And Run With Adidas – NEW ORDER Remixed Their Newest Single ‘BE A REBEL’

New sonic impulses

15 October 2020

It seems like the good old NEW ORDER are taking care of their pension. Last month they unleashed their first new track in five years with vintage NO synth stomper BE A REBEL and announced their collaboration with sportswear giant Adidas for a clothing range.

Recently they remixed the single to feature in a promo for
the band’s team-up with Adidas. Be a rebel? I don’t think so.
Take the money and run? Absolutely.
