Margolin: “This is a song about not knowing, being trapped in a haunted fairytale or a horrible nightmare and running and running and predicting horrible futures that come true and self-fulfill. It’s a gentle lullaby but it’s also a folktale with a tragic ending. This is a song about knowing what you don’t know yet. Seeing the future by guessing, being right.”

Irish indie stars FONTAINES D.C. are on their way to launch
their 4th album. Romance comes our way on August 23rd.

Conor Deegan (bassist) “We’ve always had this sense of idealism and romance.
Each album gets further away from observing that through the lens of Ireland, as
directly as Dogrel. The second album is about that detachment, and the third is
about Irishness dislocated in the diaspora. Now we look to where and what else
there is to be romantic about.”

Get ready for the album’s appetizer number 3, named HERE’S THE THING.
An a-typical poppy Fontaines DC jam. My ears are quite convinced after all
3 tasters that the Irishmen will surprise us big time with album number 4.

Grian Chatten: “It’s an anxious tune that twists and turns in

Jed Becker (guitarist): “The narrator of this little tale hasn’t hit bottom yet… but he’s certainly close to it. If I was the woman he’s trying to lure into sharing the ‘helluva ride’ he’s on, I’d run the other way. This one features a great Everly Bros.-type double lead vocal from singer Kevin Lydon, and more of the take-no-prisoners power pop our fans have come to expect from us. Enjoy!”

TUTV: This sounds like one of those very early jangly Beatles shakers, punked-up and sped up. No, I’m not kidding. It’s what my ears tell me and they’re great Fab Four savants. When you want to hit the city at night You’d Be Surprised is the spot-on upper to get you in a state of mad for it mind. Two words. Helter Skelter!

As announced recently MERCURY REV – with key members Jonathan Donahue and Sean “Grasshopper” Mackowiak – have a new LP, their first in 9 years, called Born Horses, out
on September 6.

The band have cited the late beat poet Robert Creeley
as one of the inspirations while making the album.

Following the mellow lead single Patterns we get another
moony one, partly spoken, titled ANCIENT LOVE.

Our life is the creation of our mind which originates from ancient love.”

The late great country icon JOHNNY CASH recorded an LP’s worth
of self-penned songs in 1993 that weren’t released until now.

Those songs are now collected on a new album, titled SONGWRITER
and will be released on 180g black vinyl with printed LP sleeve,

THE FOLK IMPLOSION, the musical project of Lou Barlow (Dinosaur Jr, Sebodah)
and John Davis announced a few weeks ago the birth of their first longplayer in
25 years. It’s named Walk Thru Me and will be delivered on June 28.

PORNO FOR PYROS Say Goodbye With Final Single ‘FINGERNAIL’

PORNO FOR PYROS was formed by Perry Farrell in 1992
after his other band, Jane’s Addiction broke up (temporarily).

Last year Farrell decided to call it a day for PFP. But not without new music
and a farewell tour. At the end of last year, they shared two new tracks with
Pete’s Dad and Aqua and just ended their goodbye tour in Northern America.

But it’s only over when it’s over. Porno For Pyros
just shared their final single, titled FINGERNAIL

Farrell: “The moment the melody touched the words I knew it would be a special song.
But I was too immature to understand the essence fully. There is no pain in the cutting
of our hair, eyelashes or a fingernail, because they are dead, although the world at every instant is renewed. The death invested within us is pushed out, and the soul is again
restored.”
