Band: NOTHING
Who: Philly shoegazers,
shoegazing since 2010.

Track: NEVER COME NEVER MORNING
The final single from their 6th LP, named
A Short History Of Decay, landing this Friday.

TUTV: Forcible guitar/drum/bass dynamics dominate this,
both a pretty melodic and capricious jam, having your aural
attention all the way. Shoe-pop-gaze excellence.

Band: LIFE
Who: Audacious post-punks
from Hull, UK.

Track: THE DOLLYWAGON
New piece from their upcoming 4th longplayer, called Abstract / Natural.
It’ll hit our stereos on June 19th. Tracklist and more details here.

Mezz Sanders-Green (frontman): “‘The Dollywaggon”s universal theme
is about letting go and moving on – new adventures and beginnings. I wrote
the lyrics whilst doing a long-distance walk, turning what I saw into characters
and scenes.”

TUTV: LIFE go fast-forward, full steam ahead from the first second and never look back. Their intoxicating buzz is motorized by a salvo of riffs, persistent drumming, and adrenaline-pumping vocals. They slow down somewhere in the middle, but don’t worry, it’s the harbinger for an abalaze climax.

Classy corker.

Band: DEADLETTER
Who: Reckless and adventurous
alt indies from the UK.

Track: AMONG US
Single from their sophomore album, baptized
Existence Is A Bliss. Out this Friday.

TUTV: These fast-rising mavericks excel in constructing orchestral, post-punk
symphonies, enriched with some steamy saxophone glow, in 3 and a half minutes
as they show again here on this wowing belter.

Sax it up right here.

DARKSIDE – Electronic Experts Released Their New Spaced-Out And Reflective Album ‘NOTHING’

6 March 2025

Hello, guys

Band: DARKSIDE
Who: The lauded trio, featuring Chilean-American electro musician
Nicolas Jaar and Brooklyn multi-instrumentalist Dave Harrington.

Album: NOTHING
Their 3rd one.

Press info: This album slips through the cracks of convention with serpentine guitars, extraterrestrial static, and cavernous drums. Haunted rhythms, distorted vocals, and uncanny beauty. No band but Darkside could have made Nothing, and in no moment
but now. The outcome is magnetic and hieroglyphic.

Pitchfork:This isn’t an album about clearing one’s mind. It’s raw and frenetic,
a blistering and desperately beautiful soundtrack to the mounting chaos.”

TUTV: A varied work of synth-dominating atmospherics. At times spaced-out,
at times reflective and trancy. A left field, electronic score for ruminative
relaxation. Ideal headphones music.

PAUL WELLER – Songsmith Legend Celebrates His 66th Birthday Today With His New Splendid Album ’66’

25 May 2024

Living songsmith legend PAUL WELLER is back from never having been away. He just released his 17th album, baptized 66, referring to his 66th birthday, today 24 May.

The cover of the new record is designed by Sir Peter Blake,
his first for Weller since 1995’s Stanley Road.

Press photo by Nicole Nodland

MOJO: “There’s a sense throughout of Weller, the inveterate seeker, grasping
for something tantalisingly out of reach – and in doing so, creating a record of
recurrent intrigue and frequently sublimity.”
Score: 8/10.

TUTV: Yesterday the former angry young The Jam man launched ’66’, today he
celebrates his 66th birthday. And it’s a splendid one. Simply, one of his best in
a long time. His love for Motown Soul, especially for the sensuous side of Marvin
Gaye
is still intact (Nothing / A Glimpse Of You / In Full Flight / Rise Up Signing).

His appetite for lettin’ the good times roll now and then with instantly affectionate
grooves is present on Flying Fish, Jumble Queen and Soul Wandering, and again his old(er) man’s crooner instincts are omnipresent (A Glimpse Of You / My Best Friend’s Coat / I Woke Up / Burn Out and on his Motown Soul reveries).

All in all, 12 delightful, subtly constructed, heart-warmingly orchestrated melodies with
a nostalgic, soulful and ear-relaxing feel. That’s entertainment. Happy birthday, Sir Weller.

London’s DEAD PATRONS Make A Lot Of Nasty Noise Out Of ‘NOTHING’

New striking strokes

5 December 2022

Band: DEAD PATRONS

Who: British noise trio that  started as a dare. One that has got very out of
hand – for all the right reasons. The South East London heavy alt four-piece are
inspired by a wide mixture of influences from Deerhunter to Subtle to Bowie.
The members have created a warchest of songs that demand the listener’s
attention.

New single: NOTHING

“The song was written during lockdown about feeling insignificant and
powerless, a sensation most of us would relate to. Powerless, however,
certainly does not describe the vibrancy of this hard-hitting
belter.”

TUTV: This is a nasty motherrocker of a hammer blow. Riff-roaring turbulence,
full-bodied Black Sabbath drones, chainsaw guitars and growling vocals.
Another pushing powerstroke following their previous supreme single Lover.

The video, masterminded by Tom Brewins, is a film-noir/B-movie horror take
on the questioning of self that goes with feeling like an outsider and having your
agency removed. It has graphic content, not to be viewed by the faint hearted.

Mean Belgian Riff Machine SONS Turned Try-Out Into A Knock-Out

10 April 2022

Band: SONS
Who: Rawk and roll turbine from Belgium
Where: 4AD club, Diksmuide, Belgium
When: 7 April 2022

SONS is one of the hottest bands in my country. Back in 2018, the 4-piece scored
big time in a radio contest, and from there on they went on a high-speed rollercoaster
with their powerhouse debut LP Family Diner as their first loud-and-clear milestone.

Their follow-up is just around the corner. SWEET BOY is out on 22 April. Order info here.

Ahead of it came lead single
NOTHING a few weeks ago.
A kamikaze ripper…

Last week I saw the group storming through one of their try-out gigs to warm up for the imminent album release show in Brussels and for their big upcoming summer festival spots.

If you never heard of this mean Belgian riff machine, let your brain work a bit and imagine Aussie psych-freaks King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard being a garage punk band on a mind-blowing noise mission. Get the very head-splitting, the very obstreperous, and the very gusty picture?

When it happens in front of your eyes and your ears your beasty instincts take over, your head starts rotating uncontrollably and you go bonkers all the way. That’s SONS for you, people. Four hungry triggermen that turn a try-out into a knock-out.

Here’s an idea of their dazzling live force…

London’s Melodious Rockers HONEY LUNG Detonate On New Single ‘NOTHING’…

31 July 2019

London’s robust rockers HONEY LUNG are back with new cut NOTHING, a track coined during a hazy writing session at frontman Jamie Batten’s house listening to psych icons
The Jesus and Mary Chain, and packed with an intense barrel of energy that’s come to be expected from the rising quartet.

The band revealed in a press statement: “Everything is coming into focus, we know what we are and where we are going. Nothing has been the closest we have come to creating the sound in our heads”.

NOTHING is heavily spiced, melodious electricity. Partly pushed by a wall-of-agitated-guitars sound, partly reflective when singer Batte pops up. And when everything comes together you’ll get an imposing resonance, both burning and euphonious. Capture the heat right here…
