New York’s RICH GIRLS’ Brand New Single Feels Like An Adrenalin Shot – Here’s ‘BETTER’…

New York’s duo RICH GIRLS scored one of last year’s favorite Turn Up The Volume‘s albums. Their debut LP BLACK CITY radiates every emotion you need to get you through the night. Passion and vibrancy, but also pensiveness and a portion of gloominess with a comforting effect, but most of all it’s a record with a series of intoxicating tunes for heart and soul. And the stream of creativity isn’t over yet. The band just released a brand new single

BETTER starts with a flirtatious and playful guitar intro, quickly followed by frontwoman Luisa Black‘s wonderful late night voice but when the drums kick in it’s full force forward, getting better and better. The sparkling melody and rapturous vocals grow fuller in sound, harmony and ecstasy while the glorious, repetitive guitar riff develops an early New Order like resonance here and there. Its overall overwhelming impact becomes almost orgasmic, but before you even realize it, it’s over. Like an ephemeral, but punchy shot of adrenalin.

I fell in love with New York’s duo RICH GIRLS after playing their harrowing 2016 EP ‘Love
Is The Dealer’ on repeat. Music for the midnight hours. A sonic companion for moony moments. Once you’ve heard singer/songwriter Luisa Black‘s voice you’ll never forget
her vulnerable and passionate timbre as her voice is touched by life, touched by up and downs, touched by melancholy. New track ‘WAYNE’ is another damn fine example of how authentic sentimentality really resonates like. It’s about “Post-addiction romance. Trying to keep the spark alive without the drama of drug-fueled late nights.” says Luisa. Rich Girls’ sound is timelessly human. It has heart, it has soul. Capture its beauty right here…

The Song That Made Me Cry In 2016 – Here’s LOADED by RICH GIRLS…

Now and then we all need captivating songs to cry to. Harrowing melancholy coming straight from a sorrowful heart is what I cherish in moments of sadness and I had some this year,  privately (my father died) and more in general (the loss of human solidarity). RICH GIRLS is one of those bands you want to have close by when tristesse haunts you. Led by songwriter and endearing voice Luisa Black they released a gripping 5-track EP, titled Love Is The Dealer last September. Five tender pearls to soundtrack gloominess filled twilights. For me, opener LOADED was the track that colored the whole picture just perfectly. Imagine walking into a dim bar, late at night, alone and heavy-hearted. And while ordering your next drink the radio plays some forgotten song, Brenda Lee’s comin’ on strong.  Here’s my favorite track of several nights in 2016…
