She makes a lot of noise with her punk group Against Me! (7 albums so far)
and solo (2 albums so far).
Grace: “Does God have a dick? Is that what those of the faith believe when they refer to their Lord as “he” & “him” & “father”? Well, imagine that! Oops, I think I may have imagined a little too hard and gone and written a song about it. He lord’s heavenly hammer must swing mighty! And away we go! Band: LONELY LITTLE KITSH Who: Canadian indie duo – Kristen Goetz and Nolan Jodes who took their name
from “…just another future song, lonely little kitsch” from the late genial Bowie‘s
1974 banger Diamond Dogs
Goetz (vocalist): “It’s a song about second chances vs. leaving the past behind.
When you reach a point that you can try again or keep moving on and making
progress… in this case, the decision is to keep going forward. It’s a Pixies meets
pop-punk track.”
TUTV: Fast forward we go from the kick-off. Power-driven pop punk fun all the way peaking when the high-voltage chorus kicks in. That’s why LLK got here in the top-10

Band: HEISA Who: Belgian LOUD rock trio whose sound draws influences from bands such as Black Midi, Tool, Battles and Swans, blending dissonance with a strong sense of identity. Their music balances chaos and control, mixing unsettling atmospheres with hypnotic rhythms and sharp distortion.

TUTV: Hearsay‘s sound resonates richer than before. The song has a rockin’ groove
and poised drive with a psychedelic effect. On top comes Anika‘s mesmerizing voice

Band: VAZUM (Detroit, Michigan) Who: Zach Pliska and Emily Sturm. They describe their sound as deathgaze,
combining the raw energy of deathrock with the depth of shoegaze. So far
the duo released six albums and a handful of singles and EPs.
It’s the title song from the duo’s forthcoming album due later
this year. It follows last year’s acclaimed Western Violence LP.
TUTV:Vazum rock out with urgent panache and
puissance. Full steam ahead the first chord on. Emily Sturms‘ sensual vocals add a sense of
seductive mysteriousness. Striking stroke.
Band: SLICERRR Who: 4-piece garage-punk band from Helsinki, Finland. The band’s sound
is straightforward, brute and chaotic. The songs are bass-driven and catchy.

These Finnish dogs cut it sharp with a vicious bass-riff, shizo guitars and agressive

Band: SKLOSS Who: Formed in Austin, TX as a husband-and-wife duo between American drummer/vocalist Karen Skloss and Scottish guitarist/vocalist Sandy Carson
during the COVID lockdown.
TUTV: After a short cracking, distorted guitar intro all hell breaks loose. They
produce a raw and rough clangor that grabs you by the throat and holds its
firm grip all the way. No arty farty stuff for this garage punk blues tandem.

The British pop/rock team that scored three successful albums between 2003 and 2014 returned in 2022 for some live action. They all got in the mood again and wrote/recorded thsi brand new song Don’t Go Making Plans.
It’s an infectious, brassy tune that swings around with a dance-inviting oomph.
“Where’s everybody? Where’s everyone? / I’m coming out tonight, I wanna have some fun /
But these empty streets and shut-up bars/ Too broke to eat, to nowhere to dance.”
This rotating riff-ripper is just irresistible. It’s a head-spinning stomper that gets under
your skin from the get-go. A fervid upper with a jump-up-and-down with your fists in the air chorus that doubles your adrenalin production for 4 and a half banging minutes.
Think of the early zealous gusto and the buzzing drive of NYC’s celebs The Strokes.
In a normal world, this revved-up stunner of a tune should top all indie charts
all over the globe.
Rosie Rebel and her robust retro rock combo do it again. This one is for their beloved dog of six years and tour companion, Canaan, who now rocks his tail off, up there in the sky.
As we experienced before Typhoid Rosie always storm full steam ahead from start
to finish. This punked-up, harmonious chant with its sickly sticky chorus triggers your
best zigzagging moves. It’ll feature on their 5th album, called Last Words, which lands
on June 21.

10. ‘Nothing To Report’ by FOLD PAPER (Winnipeg, US)
This far-out trio is masterminded by the Nigerian-born, Michigan-raised and Winnipeg-based Chell Osuntade, who delivers almost-spoken-word lyrics searing
with intent. They produce a raw, jittery and energetic brand of post-punk.
Nothing To Report is a glorious cacophonous jackhammer going everywhere fast.
It rattles and rambles, motorized by schizophrenic guitars, a mean bass/drum
tandem and Chell Osuntade‘s sloganesque chant. Almost 5 minutes of razzle-dazzle turmoil, revved-up dynamics and jazzed-up rhythms. Think British mavericks black midi.
11. ‘So Desperate’ by SALEM WOLVES (Providence, Rhode Island)

With this new piece, Salem Wolves taps into the human
psyche and a lost wrestler’s supernatural ambition.
Gray Bouchard (songwriter): “‘So Desperate’ is about recontextualizing what should be a moment of triumph as something grimy. If you’re ambitious or a dreamer, it’s easy to just focus on the goal, the stage, that moment in the spotlight when all eyes are on you. You tune out the noise, ignore your screaming muscles and tired bones, and march toward victory.”
Expect a riveting mid-tempo flare-up pushed by an agonizing vocalist,
an ironclad rhythm section, and mental guitars. Vehement emotionality.
This North Carolina outfit formed, fuelled by late-night jam sessions, where the only
rule was to keep the spirit of Tom Petty alive, with members who found themselves
veering away from their roles as backing musicians for solo artists.
With Cold they hit bullseye. It’s a bittersweet epic Americana
symphony that touches heart and soul. Splendid score!
The 82-year-old VU legend JOHN CALE is one of those artists who’ll never stop
making music until his final breath. Back in January 2023 he released one of the
finest records of that year with Mercy.
And he has already another one to offer.
It’s called POPtical Illusion and he will share it with the world
on June 14. The songs were written around the time he worked
on Mercy.

Common CultureCommon Culture is a rousing, fiddle-driven alternative folk band from Barnsley, England who fuse traditional and contemporary elements into an upbeat and energetic sound.
From the very start their new pîece Taking Hold explodes like a firecracker. Peppy, bustling
and stimulating. It’s a highly encouraging mind-and-body booster incited by a dizzying pace, flaming violin play, electrical rapture, pepped-up vocals, and a delirious chorus.

Smitt E. Smitty about the new video: “I wanted to take the idea of living with ‘reckless abandon’ and add an old-time horror movie element to it. A genuine ‘growling’ protagonist. One-hundred percent Mr. Hyde without any Dr. Jekyll. Plus, we did a live show at The Met in Rhode Island, and I was able to use that footage to capture the energy of our performance for the song. When people come to our live shows, they are always blown away by the energy and passion we put forth. It’s that passion that is captured for this music video.”

Smitty:“I have wanted to cover this David Bowie song for quite some time. Long before he passed away in 2016. We did a version of ‘Panic in Detroit’ for our debut live performance at ONCE in Somerville. We did it again in Detroit at The Detroit All-Star Garage Rock Punk Revue III. The song killed. But I wanted to do a different Bowie song for our performance at the Jamaica Plain Music Festival in 2019. This version of ‘Rebel Rebel’ is ostensibly the version we played live for that event. It came off wonderfully. I knew then and there, I wanted to record it.”
Looks like these madcap rebels have the time of their lives.
As Bowie would say Let’s Dance.
