THE EFFENS – Canadian Glam-Punk-Rock Force Fuzz And Buzz On New Hellraiser ‘SOMEONE’S GONNA GET YOU’

New striking strokes

Band: THE EFFENS (Toronto, Canada)
Who: Hit team with a dark, razor-sharp grunge-glam sound, channeling the raw energy
of ’90s grunge and the defiant spirit of early-aughts indie-rock. Infusing their music with honeyed pop melodics and contemporary post-punk creativity, they craft a gripping and wild musical experience.

New single: SOMEONE’S GONNA GET YOU with the
assistance of Denz Mcfarlen from fellow punks The OBGMs.

Austin Fannin (songwriter The Effens): “There was an understanding about the concept
of the song and I was excited to hear Denz take those ideas and elevate them. After he recorded his verse I completely changed my vocals and lyrics for my verse in the song. It was a great back and forth, making the song better in a way that is not possible writing alone.”

TUTV: This could easily be a hidden track off one of Ty Segall‘s roasting albums.
Someone’s Gonna Get You has also that glam-punk rock fuzz and buzz that Segall
loves to inject his sledgehammers with.

The Effens and their friend infuse their hellraiser with tons of guitar-riff extravaganza,
cast-iron drumming, flipped-out vocals and whacky harmonies. The haywire chorus is impeccable for headbangers, moshpitters and bedlamites. Actually for everybody who have an appetite for massive noise fun. Hells Bells. Watch your back.

About The Munchausen Syndrome – Listen To New Single ‘PUNISHMENT’ By THE EFFENS

New sonic impulses…

1 July 2021

Band: THE EFFENS (Toronto, Canada)
Who: “Hyper-strange post-grunge and glam pop four-piece who seem to
take in all the vagaries of the internet age and recycle them into something
unique and fantastic.”

New single: PUNISHMENT

“A sweet yet sinister love song. It’s about all the ways that someone can control
another by ‘caring’ or ‘helping’ them. You can put yourself in the role of caregiver
and have it become such a deep rooted part of your identity that you actually don’t
want the person you ‘care’ for to get better. This song is written from the point of
someone who is sabotaging an individual just enough so that they are unable to
become independent and will continue to rely on their ‘caregiver.’

Score: Mix the soft side of The Strokes with the slacker vibe of Dinosaur Jr
and you’ll know what your ears can expect here. Lyrically it’s about a kind of
Munchausen syndrome. Don’t love and care about someone for your own sick
me, myself and I‘ obsession, it only leads to human dramas.

Toronto Stormers THE EFFENS Turn Up The Heat With ‘VENOM DENIM’

Daily electricity to load your batteries…

30 May 2021

Band: THE EFFENS (Toronto, Canada)
Who: “Hyper-strange post-grunge and glam pop four piece who seem to
take in all the vagaries of the internet age and recycle them into something
unique and fantastic.”

Pick: VENOM DENIM – opener from the band’s 4-track EP Eventually
About: “You can never truly take away the parts of your life that an ex has
helped shape. “Venom Denim” is about all the marks and residue left, even
after you’ve broken free of a relationship.”

Score: Ongoing guitar drones create an inflammatory wall-of-rip-roaring
sound with the impact of a drilling hammer. Rattling drums increase the
fervency of the emotive heat at play, while a mysterious female voice
echoes in the back now and then. Pretty puissant, pretty tenacious, pretty
steamy while the intensity goes through the roof. Strike!

Turn up the heat…
