FIME – Madcap Engine Afire On New Ballistic Barnstormer ‘BETTER HALF OF A DOLLAR’

Daily noise that works faster than a stream of cafeine

22 February 2025

FIME were the backing band for LA-based indie pop
songstress Jay Som until Covid caused a lockdown.

With time on their hands, the band wrote/recorded/released an album in
2022, titled Sweeter Memory. A poignant psychedelic pop-rock record.

New single artwork

They’re back now with a new single. BETTER HALF OF A DOLLAR is a high-voltage
slice of intense hysteria. At the core of this jagged juggernaut, there’s a hypnotizing
bass riff that sneaks under your skin, the drummer hits his gear with dogged tenacity, agitated guitars fight their way to the front and the vocalist uses his four lungs to go ballistic.

Wake up people, Fime are about
to plant a knife in your tires.

THE DONNYS – Young Irish Garage Punk Rockers Want You On Their MAILING LIST

Daily noise that works faster than a stream of caffeine

18 February 2025

Band: THE DONNYS
Who: Garage punk addicts from Kilkenny, Ireland.
Last year they released their debut LP Get Active.

New single: THE MAILING LIST

Here we find the band honing their songwriting skills, resulting in a much
more direct and refined approach, while still maintaining the visceral energy,
as they exorcise the electricity stored within their bodies.

Oisin (songwriter) : “The lyrics came from an old notebook I had from when
I was 14 or 15 and from what I can remember it’s about feeling like I was always
screwing up in a relationship I was in around that time. Although looking back
now I wasn’t doing anything at all.”

TUTV: These hungry Irish hound dogs stole their parents’ 60s LPs of
proto punk heroes MC5, The Stooges and The Sonics, locked themselves
up in a smelly basement and listened to it from morning till night for
several weeks.

All charged-up they returned to real life and kicked out the jams with
this vicious riff monster of a motherrocker. If they don’t wake you up,
you must see a noizz doctor. Pronto.

Search and destroy.

SELF ESTEEM – British Kinky EBM Daredevil Ignites ’69’ Fireworks

Daily noise that works faster than a stream of caffeine

17 February 2025

New album artwork

Showy British EBM artist Rebecca Lucy Taylor, artistically known
as SELF ESTEEM launches her 3rd album, named A Complicated
Woman
on April 25.

Following lead single Focus Power
Taylor goes kinky with 69 fireworks.

“I always wanted to write a song that lists sex positions and rates them. A lot of my music is saying the things I struggle to say in real life. I like the idea of clearly communicating your needs in one quick, three-minute house song. It is also political – women still are expected to cater to others sexually; I can’t hear another discussion about ‘faking it’, it upsets me too much! There’s enough inequality in the male/ female dynamic as it is. Our bodies go through so much more pain and suffering, please god let us get the pleasure where we can!”

Wake-up people and
do your maths.

CHEST. – 4 Frenchmen And 1 Englishman Conspire To Do Your Head In With Their New Sucker-Punch Slam ‘BLOOD ON YOUR DOORSTEPS’

Daily noise that works faster than a stream of caffeine

15 February 2025

Band: CHEST.
Who: Post-punk
combo from Paris. 3 sound engineers, a pedal player,
and an Englishman who likes to shout into a microphone.
FFO: Ditz, Idles, shame, Crows, Deadletter
and other related noise cannons.

Track: BLOOD ON YOUR FOOTSTEPS
Piece from their upcoming debut EP All Good Things End,
out on 28 February via Howlin’ Banana Records.

‘‘Blood on your Doorstep is a song that speaks about the gap between the rich and the poor. It tackles the idea that we are all guilty of having “normalized” the existence of extreme poverty that surrounds us daily, to the point where we barely even notice it anymore. Marked by intense moments of violence, the song reflects the harsh reality faced by those who live in poverty every day.”

TUTV: It takes 4 hungry Frenchmen and 1 biting Englishman unleashing their
worst demons with vitriolic panache and unbridled fuel to generate the next
post-punk sensation. Enter Chest. They’re busy awakening all punk-hullabaloo
addicts who are still in the middle of their hibernation. This combative combo
is coming faster than an out-of-control comet.

Wake up people, this third shared sucker-punch from their upcoming
debut EP is another loud and clear harbinger of razor-sharp chest. things
to come.

Wake Up Lovers, It’s VALENTINE’s DAY With Chicago’s Indies HORSEGIRL

Daily noise that works faster than a stream of caffeine

3 female indies from Chicago got together in 2019, formed a band, named themselves HORSEGIRL, launched their debut album Versions Of Modern Performance, stuffed with simple, but very effective jangly pop tunes and generated lots of critical acclaim and fans with it.

Today they release their second longplayer, called PHONETICS ON AND ON.

NME says: “The Chicago band strip back the layers – sonically and lyrically – as they
continue to discover their own sound and voice… ‘Phonetics On And On’, works because
of its lack of pretensions and its back-to-basics spirit. Second time around, Horsegirl are
still recasting past greats in their own vision but finding more of themselves as they go.
”
Full review here . Score: 4/5.

It’s deadpan lead single 2468 (no, not a cover of British punk rockers Tom Robinson
Band
‘s 1977 hit 2-4-6-8 Motorway) is my 2025 Valentine’s song. I know, it’s weird, it’s whimsical, it’s comical, and that’s exactly why I like it instead of your next average,
sugary, slimy love song.

Wake up all you lovers out there (and me right here)
and surprise one another with this teasting tune.

not really a proper tour. But this year he’ll play a bunch of them. And for all
his devoted fans who won’t have the opportunity to catch him on a blue stage
somewhere, the third man records boss has this No Name Live EP out to
comfort them.
