BUZZCOCKS – Reissue Of Memorable 7″ EP… ‘SPIRAL SCRATCH’

When it’s timeless in sound & and vision, it’s a…

buzzcoks

Legendary Manchester band Buzzcocks, who injected punk with a roaring dose of infectious guitar pop back in the seventies, will reissue their 1977 DIY debut EP titled Spiral Scratch (with the wonderful Howard Devoto on vocals and who formed Magazine immediately afterwards, one of the first – and magnificent – new wave groups) , containing the four original tracks: Breakdown/Time’s Up/Boredom and Friends of Mine on 27th January and
also, on 10th March, a 12″ titled Time’s Up, an official studio bootleg documenting, with
11 tracks, their first-ever recording session (1976). All details here. You can stream the original audio version of the 4-track Spiral Scratch EP here on YouTube…

And the band, with two essential, original members – Steve Diggle and Pete Shelley – is
still alive and kicking. They released new album The Way in 2014 and are still gigging frequently. I got to go now and look for my personal, original copy of Spiral Scratch. But where, oh, where?…

To Hell With Blue Mondays – Here’s… BLACK REBEL MOTORCYLCE CLUB

eekly firework to splinter Blue Mondays into a thousand pieces…

bluemondayremedy

In these times of newborn egoism, human intolerance and macho politics we need bands that spread harmonious excitement and show that the one & only manner of surviving is solidarity and love. And if you like that message being spread in a vitalizing and stimulating way on this blue Monday, then here’s the gang you definitely want to hear. LOUD & CLEAR!

Spread your love like a fever
And don’t you ever come down
Spread your love like a fever
And don’t you ever come down
I spread my love like a fever
I ain’t ever coming down

She gave me love like a big fire
I only saw it once
She spread her love like a fever
She’s bad, but not enough

(I’m so low)
Spread your love like a fever
(I’m so low)
And don’t you ever come down
(I’m so low)
Spread your love like a fever
(I’m so low)
And don’t you ever come down
I spread my love like a fever
I ain’t ever coming down

She spread her love like a big fire
I only saw it once
She gave me love like a sister
She’s bad, but not enough

(I’m so low)
Spread your love like a fever
(I’m so low)
And don’t you ever come down
(I’m so low)
Spread your love like a fever
(I’m so low)
And don’t you ever come down
I spread my love like a fever
I ain’t ever coming down

Spread your love like a fever
And don’t you ever come down
Spread your love like a fever
And don’t you ever come down
Spread your love like a fever (x 4)

‘It Burns’ by XIXISTIX

xixix

XIXISTIX is Mike Luv‘s, genre smashing instrumental recording project. He’s an electronic ambient dance wizard from New Hampshire, US. His brand new track IT BURNS will mess up your mind and limbs. Sounds like early, experimental Chemical Brothers and industrial maniacs Nine Inch Nails having some big fun together. Luv himself describes his work as electrodelic body rock. Find out why here…

‘Changes’ by DAVID BOWIE

bowie
.
Forty-five years ago today – on 7 January 1972 – DAVID BOWIE released CHANGES as a
single in the UK, with acoustic song ‘Andy Warhol‘ as B-side. Both tracks were on his 4th album Hunky Dory. Despite only reaching No 49 on the charts, this is one of The Thin White Duke‘s best known and highly praised songs. The late legend said at the time:
“it started out as a parody of a nightclub song, a kind of throwaway”. A compositional diamond about artistic development it became! With Mick Ronson on strings, Rick
Wakeman
(once a Yes man) on keyboards, some sultry saxophone in the end by the
man himself and an overall passionate vocal performance. Intriguing and hypnotizing.
A true classic…

ELBOW – Here’s New BLACK FRANCIS inspired Track ‘ALL DISCO’…

trackday1

Manchester’s daydreamers ELBOW will release new album Little Fictions (their 7th)
on 3 February. Last month they released first single Magnificent (She Says) and
now they shared another new one called ALL DISCO. A vintage Elbow symphony with epic appeal.  It seems the song was inspired by a conversation frontman/singer Guy
Garvey
had with Black Francis, the Pixies’ mastermind as Garvey explained in a video message: “I remember this phrase from Black Francis from the Pixies. I interviewed
him for a radio show 10 years ago in Lynchburg Tennessee. I was talking to him about between him being Black Francis and Frank Black and all these different incarnations. I said ‘with all these different styles of music, where are you going next?’ He said something along the lines of ‘you have punk rock, you have rock, you have blues, you have soul, it’s all disco. And I just love that attitude, from one of the most influential people – particularly to me. For him to have this attitude of ‘put everything into it, invest everything into it, but remember it’s not everything. I think that’s a really good way to do it. He’s not having any money but he
gave us a really good chorus there.”

Here’s the compelling serenade …

THE SHINS – Brand New Sparkling Track… ‘NAME FOR YOU’

new-stuff

THE SHINS have just shared new single NAME FOR YOU. The band will release new
album ‘Heartworms’ (artwork and tracklist below), follow-up to 2012’s ‘Port Of Morrow’,
on 3 March. Word goes that their management postponed its release to get a better
spot on this year’s Coachella festival (April), but the group ended up not being lined
up at all. Anyway here’s the new ironic and quite sparkling track…

‘Pier 39’ by THE BANKROBBER

bakrobberpier39

Last year Italian band  THE BANKROBBER  released a truly delectable 5-track EP, titled
THE LAND OF TALES. An impressive entirety of multi-layered symphonies, with opening track PIER 39 displaying perfectly their delightful songwriting qualities. Elevating vibes, spiced with electro colors, rich orchestrations and appealing vocals. A few days ago the
5-piece launched a beautifully atmospheric video to visualize the song’s dreamy story going as far as San Franciso and Los Angeles. Enjoy the mesmeric journey here…
