Due to heavy traffic – bloody annoyance – it took me 4 hours instead of 2 and a half to drive from my hometown Ghent (Belgium) to the cool capital of The Netherlands. Was
a 45-minute rock gig worth all the aggravation in the car? Damn, it was! It’s quite simple: THE MOONLANDINGZ is the most exciting gang at this very moment on this troubled planet. Their debut album ‘Interplanetary Class Classics‘ is smashing-punk-dance-dope for body and mind. And live these outlaws are one hell of a thunderous groove machine. This freakish collective includes Sheffield’s electronic weirdos The Eccentronic Research Council and Fat White Family‘s possessed frontman Lias Saoudi. Exhibitionist Lias aka Johnny Rocket – whether he likes it or not (I bet he does) – is the unquestionable star. Not a preaching Bono or Alex Fake Turner kind of star. No, he’s for REAL. He became an outsider not by choice but because of the way narcissistic monkeys rule this damaged world. He’s intelligent, politically outspoken and his anger & frustration turned him into a provocative songwriter and demonic performer on stage (I saw him going bonkers, four times, with the mental The Fat White Family before).
