THE CELTIC SOCIAL CLUB is a European supergroup based on the same concept as the
famous Buena Vista Social Club and the New Orleans Social Club. The band formed
five years ago and is made up of various leading lights in the folk rock cannon. Last April the collective released their high-spirited and varied 3rd album called From Babylon To Avalon. A new single off the album is just released. ‘REMEMBER JOE STRUMMER‘ is an ode to the late great frontman of THE CLASH and later THE MESCALEROS.
Joe Strummer would have turned 67 yesterday. The track is a glorious humdinger were reggae, folk and rock merge seamlessly as happened with so many The Clash crackers and also contains a spoken word sequence by the late icon himself.
50% of the proceeds of the 7″ single will go directly to The Joe Strummer Foundation managed, among other, by Strummer‘s widow Lucinda Garland (who also sings back vocals on the track. The 7″ vinyl single is available here via Gentlemen Recordings
