Top singles from the past…
7 March 2020
Band: Siouxsie And The Banshees
Single: Happy House
B-side: Drop Dead/Celebration
Released: 7 March 1980 – 40 years ago today.
Note 1: Siouxsie about the content of the song “It is sarcastic. In a way, like
television, all the media, it is like adverts, the perfect family whereas it is more
common that husbands beat their wives. There are mental families really but the
projection is everyone smiling, blond hair, sunshine, eating butter without being
fat and everyone perfect.”
Note 2: Two new musicians, Budgie on drums (future husband of Siouxsie who
played with The Slits) and the late great guitarist John McGeoch (who played with
Magazine and later with PiL) replaced original members Kenny Morris & John McKay.
Album: Kaleidoscope – the band’s third album.
Score: The single reached #17 in the UK.
