New sonic impulses…
10 April 2020
The utterly cool ALISON MOSSHART, longtime vocalist of utterly cool band The Kills
and frontwoman of one of Jack White’s side projects The Dead Weather, just revealed
her first solo single ‘RISE’. A solid, passionate and bluesy ripper.
The song goes back to 2013. “I didn’t ever forget it. I remember right where I was when
I wrote it, sitting at my desk in London, missing someone badly.” she said.
She also put a message on The Kills FB-page regarding the release of Rise: “I’m real
happy to announce I have a new single out today! In the spirit of getting thru the strangest
time on earth, and wildly searching for grace and silver linings, I hope this song might extend
to you some strength and positive vibes right now, and maybe even make house arrest a little more sonically groovy. Out on Domino Records now and available where ever you listen to music. Stay safe. Stay home. Blast music.”
The accompanying video, edited by Mosshart, contains footage of herself at home and from a recent trip to Los Angeles. She says she’s been learning video editing during her time in self-quarantine.
