Longest Song Title Of The Year (So Far) – ‘JAMES AND IRA DEMONSTRATE MYSTICISM AND SOME CONFUSION HOLDS (MONDAY) By YO LA TENGO

New sonic impulses…

14 July 2020

Veteran indie rockers YO LA TENGO shared a pretty weird track called, take a deep
breath, JAMES AND IRA DEMONSTRATE MYSTICISM AND SOME CONFUSION HOLDS (MONDAY). Definitely a contender for the longest song title of the year. It’s a six-minute weirdly droning (on an organ I suppose) jam by band members Ira Kaplan and James McNew in the band’s Hoboken, New Jersey rehearsal room. It sounds like if they both
fell asleep with their heads on the organ for a while. That monotone, yes.

Their comment: “In late April, with the outside world weighing on everybody, we determined that the two of us could assemble in Hoboken without disobeying the rules laid out by Governor Murphy, and resumed ‘practicing’ hardly describes it, because we’ve done no practicing per se, and anyway what would be practicing for playing. James set up one microphone in the middle of the room in case we stumbled on something useful for the future. Instead we decided to release something we did right now.”

Fall asleep here…
