Artists: THE FLAMING LIPS and NELL SMITH
Last November teenage songstress NELL SMITH and Oklahoma’s psychedelic bohemians THE FLAMING LIPS teamed up (after meeting several times after Lips gigs) teamed up for an album of 9 covers of Nick Cave songs album. Totally special, right? You don’t see a 13-year-old teenager front a big name band, every day. Plus, covering Cave is not really like having a walk in the park. But it all turned tremendously well with Where The Viaduct Looms as the exquisite result.
Coyne: “It is always great to meet excited, young creative people.
With Nell we could see she is on a journey and thought it would be
fun to join her for a while and see if we could get things going. It was
a great way to connect with her and help harness her cool attitude
to making music.”
Nick Cave: “I’m a fan.”
A couple of days ago Nell and The Lips played
Red Right Hand on the American Late Show.
Utterly cool performance.
