Amazing Artwork! Cover Of ‘NINE LIVES’ By AEROSMITH – 25 Years Ago

For your eyes only

Band: AEROSMITH

Album: NINE LIVES – their 12th
Released: 25 years ago this year

Artwork: The original cover was inspired by a painting by Indian monk
A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Praphupada. It visualizes Lord Krishna with
a cat’s head and female breasts dancing on the head of the snake demon,
Kaliya. The Hindu community reacted shocked and disapproved of the
offensive artwork.

Aerosmith themselves had no idea of the origin of the artwork. The record
label replaced it for the following presses of the LP with an image of a cat
tied to a circus knife-thrower’s wheel.
