Welsh Heroes FEEDER Shoot Loud And Clear On New 11th Album ‘TORPEDO’
22 March 2022
Band: FEEDER
Who: Welsh rockers who started their journey in 1994
and produced 11 studio albums (including the new one)
New album: TORPEDO
Released: 18 March 2022 via Big Teeth Music
Order info: here
LOUDER THAN WAR says: “Written and recorded remotely during the darkest days
of lockdown, it’s shot through with a paranoiac sense of urgency. Packed with musical
curve balls – a gnarly title track slaloms from thrash dirge to stadium anthem, the album’s
redemptive mode is summed up by The Healing, a Britpop-meets-grunge banger that serves
as a reminder that Feeder are still at their peak.” Score: 4/5.
Turn Up The Volume: Big, melodious tunes shot through a giant cannon towards
your Herculean-rock addicted ears. Loud and clear as we know the restless Welsh
rockin’ heroes. A holy bloody magnum record!

Grant Nicholas (frontman: “We are really looking forward to going out on the road again and playing the new album material. This will be the heaviest Feeder set we’ve played in a while so can’t wait. We may revisit some heavier old school Feeder classics also and touch on some Renegades and All Bright electric stuff.”

Jet-Black Noise Duo GHXST Gear Up For Their Debut Album With Sneaky Single ‘PLS, YOU MUST BE A DREAM’
Daily electricity to load your batteries
22 March 2022
Band: GHXST
Who: Noise tandem from
the City Of Angles, Los Angeles
Debut album: ADMIRE
Out 22 April 2022.
The LP was written and recorded in California and was mixed by
long-time collaborator and UK producer James Aparicio (Nick Cave,
Depeche Mode, Spiritualized, Liars).
Lead single: PLS, YOU MUST BE A DREAM
“The song adds a surf goth element to the duo’s signature metal-inflected
sound and “is an ode to the obsessions that haunt you, like a half-remembered
scene from an arthouse film. As Shelley X coldly intones “You’re the only one”
over a menacing surf riff, it’s not clear whether it’s for a lost love or a memory
of times past. As always, the allure is in the unknown”.
Turn Up The Volume: This deafening jet-black groove moves slowly
like a sneaky snake on a destructive mission. Metallic disturbance, bass
turbulence, traumatic vocals, and chainsaw guitars that cut up your
psyche.
GHXST seem to battle a damaging war in their heads
while David Lynch is waiting in the shadow.
Time to smash your wicked cacodemons…

FONTAINES D.C. Share Moody Title Track Of Their Forthcoming 3rd Album ‘SKINTY FIA’
New striking strokes
22 March 2022
Band: FONTAINES D.C.
Who: Irish post-punk team
Albums: Drogel (2019) and A Hero’s Death (2020)
New album: SKINTY FIA – 3rd LP
Release: 22 April via Partisan Records
Skinty Fia is Irish for ‘the damnation of the deer.’ Both the title
and cover art refer to the extinction of the Irish giant deer. The
symbol for a longplayer that meditates on the band’s Irish identity.
It’s the first LP made after all group members moved out of Ireland,
looking back from the outside.
Here comes the moody title-track

Puzzling, Ominous And Chaotic – Five Previously Unheard SONIC YOUTH Jams From 2000-2010 Sessions
22 March 2022
Band: SONIC YOUTH
Who: Guitar noise legends with
Kim Gordon, Thurston Moore,
Lee Ranaldo and Steve Shelley
Active: 1981-2011 / 15 LPs
New EP: IN/OUT/IN
Release: 11 March 2022 – order info here
Three Lobed Recordings (the label) says: In mulling over their career, it’s staggering
to realize that Sonic Youth not only delivered a healthy slab of releases as a unit but also
have a myriad of shelved material still waiting for broader ears. “In/Out/In” ably delivers
a new slab of mostly-unheard Sonic righteousness, with a scope on the post 2000-era
band in specially zoned/exploratory regions.
Rolling Stone says: “In/Out/In feels less like a random collection of toss-offs and
more like a lost Sonic Youth album before everyone figured out who would sing
each track.” 4/5.
Turn Up The Volume: These five previously unreleased jams sound like… jams,
going everywhere and nowhere but they never leave your mind once you let them
in. These retrieved soundscapes, mostly instrumental, perplex and baffle. Especially
the 11-minute track 4 Social Static, a sort of Lou Reed’s Metal Music Machine escapade
and the 12-minute track 5 Out & In, a riff-Krautrock-roaring rattlesnake.
Ominous, chaotic, and mind-dazzling.

New Jersey Rockers OLD CURRENTS Go Sky-High On Power Ballad ‘THE GLORY’
Daily electricity to load your batteries
22 March 2022

(Photo credit: Ryan Struck / Daily Grime Media)
Band: OLD CURRENTS
Who: Hefty 4-piece from Glen Rock, NJ
New single: THE GLORY
The third single of their upcoming album The Glory, The Defeat.
Jake Novak (Lead singer) about this third cut: ““My mom didn’t have a great relationship with her first husband, and she always told me that she loves life so much now, that she’d go through the bad times again knowing it would put her on the path to the life she has now. While I haven’t gone through anything like she did, I love that attitude on life and I think there is a lot to be gained by having that mindset no matter what your struggle was. I love my life so much now, that I’d be willing to make the same mistakes again.”
Turn The Volume: What starts as a jangly, gentle and easing mid-tempo ballad moves slowly but surely towards a huge burst of excessive emotions with lead singer Jake Nova, at the top of his lungs, going sky-high while the band accompany him with a walloping wall of sound for an afire finish. Yes!
