Singer/songwriter ROBYN HITCHCOCK who started his career back in the 70s with
psych punk band The Soft Boys went solo in 1981, canned no less than 21 albums so
far and a new one baptized SHUFFLEMANIA! – his first one in 5 years – arrives on 21 October.
Pre-order info here.
“Recorded in locations around the world over the pandemic era, SHUFFLEMANIA! offers up 10 gloriously ingenious new Robyn Hitchcock songs in just under 40 minutes – a “proper pop album” as nature intended, manifesting his signature wit, miraculous gift for melodic craftsmanship, and striking humanity in a world gone mad.”
Hitchcock: “Hello dear listener, I am thrilled to be unleashing my new record album SHUFFLEMANIA! on the world. What is SHUFFLEMANIA!? It’s surfing fate, trusting your
intuition, and bullfighting with destiny. It’s embracing the random and dancing with it,
even when it needs to clean its teeth. It’s probably the most consistent album I’ve made.
It’s a party record, with a few solemn moments, as parties are wont to supply. Groove on, groovers!”
To get us all in the right mood he just dropped
the lead single called THE SHUFFLE MAN.
An overwhelming stormer going full steam ahead from the get-go, racing everywhere
fast. No brakes, no breaks, all cylinders on, all burners on, speeding like hell for 160 kamikaze seconds with Hitchcock‘s boisterous voice rushing all over it. Big fun!
Mood-uplifting crackerjacks like this adrenaline-boosting
one are so welcome in these grim times.
Rock ‘n roll is here to stay, and so is Robyn Hitchcock.
