Toronto Trio THE BLACK FEVER Move With New Single ‘ALL TO MYSELF’

Daily electricity to load your batteries

30 August 2022

Band: THE BLACK FEVER
Who: A three-piece post-punk band based in Toronto.
Formed in 2009, they three released three albums and
one EP, so far.

New single: ALL TO MYSELF
From their upcoming EP

“Sometimes, it’s easier to write a song about someone you care about,
rather than express those words directly. Here’s hoping they get to hear
this song, and realize that it’s about them. Unrequited love set to music.”

All To Myself is an 8-minute slow-motion jam. Both yearning and wistful
with gloomy and psychedelic shadows. Hankering vocals express the desire
to touch the heart of the one you love secretly. The finale is breathtaking.
Febrile emotions and a weeping guitar à la Interpol‘s characteristic
timbre of feverish electricity.

“There’s just one thing I ask; you, all to myself.”

From Punk Rockers To Crooner Combo – ARCTIC MONKEYS Share First Single Off New Upcoming Album

30 August 2022

Band: ARCTIC MONKEYS
Who: Sheffield heroes fronted
by singer-songwriter Alex Turner
Active: Since 2002 / 7 studio LPs (new one incl.)

New album: THE CAR
Release: 21 October 2022 – pre-order info here

First single: THERE’D BETTER A MIRRORBALL

Artwork new single

The monkeys already premiered a new cut, called I’m Not Quite Where I Think I Am,
a smooth, jazzy vibe, live a couple of weeks ago, but here’s the official first single.

There’d Better Be A Mirrorball sounds exactly like a track from
their could previous longplayer Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino.

Yep, Turner returns back to his piano and tries hard again to be a vintage crooner,
but he hasn’t the voice for it, too light and far away from the real crooners like Nick
Cave, Leonard Cohen
and Tom Waits.

The days of exciting Monkeys punk rock commotion are obviously over. If that’s what Turner wants, he should go further up that road. Whatever he does his fans will adore
it anyway.

ED SHEERAN Joins BRING ME THE HORIZON At Reading/Leeds Festival Last Weekend

29 August 2022

Artwork of their ‘Bad habits’ collaboration

Pretty mental(lic). Sheffield’s clamorous metalcore noiseniks BRING ME THE HORIZON played last weekend at the Reading/Leeds festival in the UK. Once again they teamed up with megastar/songsmith ED SHEERAN (40 million followers).

Early last year BMTH joined Sheeran for a rework of his million-selling hit Bad Habits
(more than 1 billion streams on Spotify). Together they opened the Brit Awards 2022
with the track.

And they don’t get enough of each over. BMTH invited their mate for a euphoric rendition of Bad Habits at their Reading/Leeds show. Sheeran‘s rock credibility got another huge upgrade. You either love or hate him (I’m in the middle) but kudos to Bring On The Horizon who don’t care if their fans will shoot them for working with the singer-songwriter-crooner.

Anyway, this is ecstasy in motion

Irish Indies ARCO ARENA Back With Riff Flipped-Out Energizer ‘YOUNG’

Daily electricity to load your batteries

29 August 2022

Band: ARCO ARENA
Who: Irish indies from Dundalk, County Louth.
Described once as Queens Of The Stone Age crossed
with Northern Irish post-rockers And So I Watch You From Afar.

New single: YOUNG

“Young” is a raw but tender guitar-driven track that mourns
wasted time, but celebrates a victorious and vivid future ahead.”

It’s been 2 years now, since Arco Arena dropped their bang-up single
Docker Martins. And With their new vehement piece Young, they hit
the bullseye once again.

It’s a huge riff energizer, flipping-out when the belter reaches its climax.
In between, you can have your one-man-moshpit and jump up and down like
a kangaroo on dope every time the exuberant chorus triggers your adrenaline
production. Bad-ass, right? You betcha.

Looking forward is the loud and clear message.

Ture in!

Artist: FAIYAZ AND THE WASTED CHANCES
Who: Toronto Joe strummer on jazz
and Hendrix with lots of delay.

Single: FLUTTER

“Flutter is inspired by teenage heartbreak, the yearning when a relationship ends. It feels awkward, romantic, sad yet uplifting. The bare bones I wrote as a teenager, at the time when I didn’t really understand how to let out these emotions. Soothing and breezy, this song taught me to accept rejection.”

Music is a powerful medium for all kinds of emotions. Happiness, sadness, catharsis, and so on. Here this one-man band uses it to channel the end of a relationship. Flutter is a fully charged-guitar jam that grows in riveting tenseness along the way while enlivening vocals complete the sonic picture.

Tune in…

Artist: MUNA ILLEIWAT (New Jersey, US)
Who: Growing up in disparate cultures and spaces, Muna Ileiwat writes songs
about the experiences that have shaped her. Her music is uncomplicated, just
classic indie pop rooted in nostalgia.

Song: TWENTY-SEVEN

The title track from her brand new 4-track EP. Buy/stream it here.

Illeiwat: “My main inspiration throughout this process was exercising and
accepting a lack of control. Creatively, writing and recording this EP felt new
in many ways. It felt like I reclaimed my innovation by just creating for myself.
It’s a profound way to experience a sense of community and being able to share
that with others is wonderful in many ways. It made me realise that’s the real
reason I wanted to make art in the first place.”

Twenty-Seven is a sweet little pearl. Sepia-colored, romantic,
and pensive with tender vocals. A heart-and-soul humdinger
for the midnight hours.

With this sultry Chicago-blues stomper from down under, on your stereo,
you’ll never feel alone. A slow-burning shuffle brings smoky bars to mind
where the blues is king and the audience is tapping their toes and nodding
their heads to the beat. O’Donoghue‘s brokenhearted voice and
glowing harmonica flashes are spot-on. Oh yeay!

Check-in, folks…
