Band: THE ILLICITS
Who: 4-piece from Blackburn, Lancashire, UK. They produce
a ‘terrace punkʼ sound that brings the post-industrial imagery of
northern towns to the fore along with the will to keep moving
forward.
Following their super-duper stomper Feel It shared
a new hammer blow, called MODERN LIFE.
“”Modern Life” promotes a voice of the disenfranchised youth. It best summarises
our story as a band so far: razor-tongued lyrics, relentless energy and stadium-sized
choruses. We rely on new writing tools to open up new avenues for social commentary.
On this track we use a 12-bar blues, late ‘50s-inspired guitar riff — most commonly used
by the likes of Jerry Lee Lewis and Eddie Cochran — to help shift our narrative to present
times.”
TUTV: The Sex Pistols are all over this hellraiser. The nasty groove of their controversial slam Bodies, the spit and sneer vocals of Johnny Fucking Rotten and a Steve Jones-esque guitar solo. Never mind the bollocks, it’s The Illicits. Oil your pipes for the Herculian
chorus and start a moshpit in your kitchen.
Right here, right now.
