FLEETWOOD Topped The UK Album Charts This Day 45 Years Ago With ‘RUMOURS

Back in time

28 January 2023

While punk was busy to explode in the UK and the USA in 1977, massive bands and artists still dominated the charts. Like FLEETWOOD MAC II (the original, blues-oriented, band was formed in 1967 by Peter Green, Mick Fleetwood, Jeremy Spencer and John McVie. After Green and Spencer left the late great Christine McVie joined in 1970 on keyboards. Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks came in 1974).

45 years ago, on 28 January 1978, their masterpiece LP RUMOURS hit the spot
on the UK Album Charts. The longplayer has sold over 40 million copies worldwide
since its release.

Los Angeles’ Electro-Punk Whirlwind SEXTILE With New Capricious Roller Coaster ‘CRASSY MEL’

New striking strokes

28 January 2023

Band: SEXTILE
Who: Electro-punk act from Los Angeles, led by
key members Brady Keehn and Melissa Scaduto.

So far they fabricated/released 2 albums:
A Thousand Hands (2015) and Albeit Living (2017)
and one EP (2018).

New single: CRASSY MEL

It follows the two new songs – Modern Weekend
and Contortion – that the duo shared last year.

Crassy Mel is a weird beast of a jackhammer. It detonates like an electronic
whirlwind, spiced with hyperkentic bongos, and pushed by Scaduto‘s sneering
vocals. But soon the track derails as if synth-wizard Aphex Twin sneaked into
the studio for some head-twisting sequences before glowing synths fade out
slowly. A 3.28-minute roller coaster, ladies and gents.

Tune in.

THESE THRILLING LIES… Welsh Eccentrics Jamming Their Tails Off

Daily electricity to load your batteries

28 January 2023

Band: THESE THRILLING LIES…
Who: Eccentric post-punks
from Swansea, Wales

New single: NO FOOD

“This song is self-explanatory in the sense that the simple lyrics are an immediate
and passionate response to the continuing normalisation of food banks in our country.
It seems that something culturally and politically has gone terribly wrong for this to be considered acceptable. The gulf between the haves and have-nots is forever widening
and most of the haves seem to be increasing their contempt for everyone else.”

TUTV: These Welshmen are not your average safe-sounding rock band.
They’re DIY eccentrics jamming their tails off on No Food. A crashing and
slashing cry-out growing in anxiety and fretfulness along its chaotic course.

Imagine John Bonham‘s ghost on drums, assisted by a wayward bassist,
a sultry 60s Hammond organ, psycho guitars, schizo synths and a demonic
vocalist, mixing prog-rock and garage punk into a messed-up rumpus to
scare corrupt politicians with. Sounds wicked, right? You bloody betcha.

Are they mad? Yes, they definitely
are. For the right reasons that is.

Join the trashy revolution.

SUGARBUNNY – Vocal Passion And Sonic Melodrama On Debut Single ‘SUN’

Daily electricity to load your batteries

27 January 2023

Artists: SUGARBUNNY
Who: Fresh Belgian outfit, fronted by grand vox and songwriter
Hannah Vandenussche
(from magical electro act Rumours) and backed
by seasoned musicians, bassist/co-songwriter Mirko Banovic (damn I
miss Arno), drummer Joris Casier (Stake) and Jasper Morel (Black Box
Revelation
.

Debut single: SUN

TUTV: What an arousing debut. Sun shines through its vocal passion
and sonic fervency. Hannah Vandenbussche‘s supreme vocality brings the
energy-charged resonance of Florence Welch to mind, while her surrounding
musicians build a towering wall-of-melodramatic as big as the Cathedral
of their hometown. As I said, what an arousing debut!

You, you can have it all if you want
You can even pull the heartstrings
You can take me anywhere
To the sun where we can be
You can put my mind at ease
Until the city wakes me up
Will you take me as I am
