UNCUT MAGAZINE Publishes The ULTIMATE GUIDE To YES

20 February 2023

Former legendary keyboardist Rick Wakeman
introduces Uncut latest Deluxe Ultimate Music Guide
made for all YES fans, then and now.

He also had a far-reaching conversation which covers his session musician work, praise
for the material which Yes made after he left, and how his solo successes once led to him being greeted by a brass band on an airport runway, to the dismay of the other members of Yes – though it ultimately led to them all being offered solo album contracts too.

As you’ll learn from the features and in-depth reviews in this deluxe Ultimate Music
Guide
, the band’s journey – with Rick and without him – has been an incredible one. From orchestral psyche-pop to pastoral prog drama. Out the other side to encounter jazz fusion, and synth-pop. The band have evolved to meet the times, and are now retrenching in the ecological mode of their classic era albums to the delight of a new generation of listeners.

You can purchase a copy and let it be sent to your home. Info HERE.

A perfect occasion to play their 1974 classic opus RELAYER again.

Hot Ticket PARAMORE Pay Tribute To Fashion Icon VIVIENNE WESTWOOD In New Startling Video

21 February 2023

On 10th February revitalized American guitar pop trio PARAMORE
launched their wildly praised 6th LP This Is Why, their first in 6 years.

NME gave it 5 stars: “The triumphant sound of a band reborn.
The trio’s clear-eyed and powerful sixth album encapsulates their
journey to becoming a generation-defining band.”

For RUNNING OUT OF TIME, one of the album’s
top tracks the band have a video out now.

The song’s themes of anxiety and poor time management come alive
in eye-catching detail in a Ivanna Borin-directed video. The visual finds
frontwoman Hayley Williams in the studio, in vintage Vivienne Westwood
fashion style, confronted with a drum and guitar coming to life. Quiet
impressive.

This way the band wanted to pay tribute to the iconic fashion
designer who passed away last December, aged 81.

Warning! Electro-Slash-Punk Duo SHELF LIVES Bite

Daily electricity to load your batteries

Daily electricity to load your batteries

21 February 2023

Band: SHELF LIVES
Who: Raw electro-punk duo from London. They pair hardcore punk’s brief blasts of energy with electroclash’s minimal and sleazy sonics. Their music feels chaotic, tense, and wired; raising themes of societal collapse and hyper-consumerism with a warped smile.

Track: BITE
It follows their smashing debut album
Yes, Offence released last year.

TUTV: This synth-punk salvo starts with some sharp-cutting sneering
and spiting and then, one minute in, when the siren-like chorus erupts
through your tormented speakers, this maddening missile sounds like
if The Prodigy fly a starfighter with Amyl Taylor from the heated Aussies
Amyl And The Sniffers in the front seat.

You’ll experience a supersonic rush
through your veins. Wow! Double wow!

Yessss, this is really heavy stuff, people. Karma or not, no rest for the wicked.
In a normal world, this crack hammer uppercut should top the UK’s Indie Charts.
Don’t miss them, they’re electro-tastic. Hells bells!

Ay ay ay ay ay ay
Well you said you like karma
You say you like freedom
You’re better than me
So you said you are calmness
Better off stealing, rather than cheap

I will never bite what you say
Didn’t want to find out anyway
I will never bite what you say
Didn’t want to find out anyway.

Alert your neighbours
before you release the bats.

Press play.

Waking Up With Legendary Guitarist NILS LOFGREN And CRAZY HORSE

Works faster than caffeine

To be honest, I lost track of how many albums NEIL YOUNG, new and old,
live LPs from his Archives, solo or with CRAZY HORSE released the past
few years.

What I do know is that another one with Crazy Horse is coming up.
It’s named ALL ROADS LEAD HOME and lands on 31 March.

It features the original horses Ralph Molina, Billy Talbot and Nils Lofgren.
Each member wrote three songs with different musicians, except Neil.

It all started as a pandemic project for CH. Young was brought on board
later, his sole writing credit being a live solo version of “Song Of The Seasons”,
from the 2021 Crazy Horse album Barn.

1. “Rain” (Billy Talbot)
2. “You Will Never Know” (Nils Lofgren)
3. “It’s Magical” (Ralph Molina)
4. “Song Of The Seasons” (Neil Young)
5. “Cherish” (Billy Talbot)
6. “Fill My Cup” (Nils Lofgren)
7. “Look Through The Eyes Of Your Heart” (Ralph Molina)
8. “The Hunter” (Billy Talbot)
9. “Go With Me” (Nils Lofgren)
10. “Just For You” (Ralph Molina)

The first taster is a song written and sung by legendary guitarist
NILS LOFGREN
who also played for several years with Springsteen’s
E-Street Band
and released multiple solo albums.

Young Nils

YOU WILL NEVER KNOW is an easy-going,
electrical, retro country rocker.

Moody Pop Blues And Purifying Introspection – dEUS Back With New Album ‘HOW TO REPLACE IT’

20 February 2023

Belgian art-rock heroes dEUS unleashed their
8th LP, named HOW TO REPLACE IT last Friday.

Pias (record label): “Some bands age gracefully, slipping into something a little more comfortable. Others fade to irrelevance, with nothing left to say. Twenty-eight years after their debut record, dEUS have done neither – they remain indie stalwarts, pushing ever forward, endlessly curious and creatively restless.”

Tom Barman (frontman/songwriter): “You don’t want to repeat yourself, but
you have your style. You want to try new stuff and just react to whatever feels
fresh at the time.

“I like the openness of the album’s title. Follow the lyrical clues, and you might conclude “it”
concerns romance and ageing; squint a little, and you might alight on modernity being the malaise described. Either way, fueling intrigue is by design. It’s a question, it’s an answer…
it’s up to the listener to decide.”

“I had a pretty dramatic time – very personal, very painful. But ‘How To Replace It’ doesn’t scan as sad or downbeat; it’s quite the opposite. It’s defiant. And has some distance. It’s not just the raw emotion speaking – there’s the hindsight and introspection that comes after all that. And room for forgiveness.”

Full Barman interview here.

TUTV: It’s the best-ever Belgian band’s first longplayer in almost 11 years, not that
they disappeared from the earth as they released a ‘Best Of’ in between and kept playing live, mostly at festivals. How To Replace It is definitely family of 2012 album Following Sea
in tone, timbre, and moodiness.

No fireworks, no killer singles, no classic anthems. For the greater part this
new full-length breaths moody blues pop and purifying introspection musings following Tom Barman‘s heart-piercing relationship breakup and family strife. At this moment – after 3 spins – I’m not really excited, but I know, of course, that dEUS songs – definitely their soft ones – grow slowly until they capture your psyche. So, we’ll see/hear. But I’m optimistic. Their high-quality songwriting is no less than an unquestionable fact.

Techno Maverick LEG PUPPY Presents A ‘SPECIAL KIND OF GIRL’ Who Is Looking For A Partner In Crime

Daily electricity to load your batteries

20 February 2023

London‘s underground techno misfit LEG PUPPY who claims to have the best
band in the world, is getting closer to the release of the best album in the world,
in 2023, named FEEL THE FEAR AND DO IT ANYWAY. Out on 10 March.

Pre-order info here.

To get us in the right drooling mood we can jump from right to left and back,
up and down, on one or two legs like a kangaroo to the album’s third taster,
following head-twisting jams Warm Leatherette and Johnny Pigman.

SPECIAL KIND OF GIRL is a special kind of track. Throbbing military fanfare
drums rollin’ throughout, while a story of revenge is rapped all over it, with
a special kind of backing vocals girl, and glinstering guitars joining the ride
midway. Well, I’m a candidate for being her partner in crime. Call me. Bingo.

Ps: As usual great artwork and
a great video clip. Bingo again.

“She wants a partner in crime
Who looks quite dashing
She’ll send him a message
When her app stops crashing

She’ll take him to bingo
With the blue rinse brigade
Show him off, to all the
friends that she’s made

She’s a special kind of girl”

Roll the tape.
