EATING RAINBOWS – Belgian Bulldozer In Overdrive On Debut Slam Dunk ‘LIFE’

Daily electricity to load your batteries

27 September 2023

Band: EATING RAINBOWS
Who: Up-and-coming noise-punk-rock
trio from Belgium‘s capital.

Debut single: Single: LIFE
First piece from their forthcoming 6-track debut EP
named Yep Yep Yep out on 24 November.

TUTV: Deranged guitars and hammering drums propel this merciless slam dunk.
Tons of horsepower and an illegal amount of decibels attack your stereo with the pulverising impact of a bulldozer in overdrive, while maniacal screaming make you
think that the singer needs to consult a shrink, and why not, the other two eating
rainbows too. It’s cheaper with three.

The psychedelic escapades of British noiseninks Traams and Canadian turbine
Metz come to mind. And the great news is that these motherrockers have
a couple of other Molotov cocktails in the pipeline before the EP lands.

Waking Up With… THE MOUNTAIN GOATS Rocking Their Tails Off On New Ripper

Daily noise that works faster than any stimulant

27 September 2023

📸 Jackie Lee Young Photography

Californian veteran rockers THE MOUNTAIN GOATS, conducted by singer/songwriter/musical mastermind and only original member John Darnielle,
are playing around for more than 3 decades (actually since 1991) and recorded/released no less than 22 albums and #23 is planned to see the day of light on 27 October. Titled JENNY FROM THEBES it comes via Merge Records.

Album artwork

Ahead of it they dropped a third track (stream all 3 below).
It’s titled MURDER AT THE 18th. GARAGE

Darnielle “Rather than being coy about it, let me tell you that somebody gets killed in this song, which is, at best, a short-term solution to Jenny’s problems, not that I’m saying she herself did anything. It’s her word against his now, and he can’t talk anymore, and she’s long gone by the time the EMTs get to 18th street. Under oath, I will testify that she was with me, because I am with her. I knew when I wrote this tune that Wurster-Hughes Inc. would eat it up like a big tasty snack, and guess what, they did. Lace up your dancing workboots but wear some inserts because this one’s a sprint

Killer track.

THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS Offer Different Techno Vibes For Different Moods On Their 10th Album ‘FOR THAT BEAUTIFUL FEELING’

Standout longplayers

26 September 2023

Manchester‘s longtime techno wizzards THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS
have their new, 10th LP, FOR THAT BEAUTIFUL FEELING out.

Order info here.

NME says: “Two-and-a-half decades into their career, everyone knows The Chemical Brothers are masters of their craft. But it’s the iconic Manchester duo’s constant reinvention of their sound, pushing festival-filling dance music further into the stratosphere, that has kept these dance giants atop the electronic music throne… On their 10th album, The Chemical Brothers remain the best in the business.” Full review here. Score: 4/5.

TUTV: After almost 25 years, the Chem Bros still have no intention of slowing down.
On the contrary, with this 10th album, they let the world know that they still are
experts in what they do for so long. This time they offer different vibes for different moods, featuring different vocalists, to fill massive discotheques with and attract big crowds to their rapturous shows

You can go bonkers to vintage CB techno firework (Live Again / No Reason / Feels Like I’m Dreaming / The Weight), you can leave the dancefloor and go to the chill-out space, let your mind absorb the bleeps and beeps and relax to smooth psych grooves like Goodbye (feat. passionate female soul vocals), Fountains (with subtle Freak Le Chic guitar sparks) and the title track with yearning vocals by French singer Hallo Maud, and retro trips for disco fanatics (The Darkness That You fear / Magic Wand / Skipping Like A Stone with Beck).

Enough new intoxicating material to integrate in the setlist for their
upcoming concerts and make fans experience beautiful feelings.

Key singles: No Reason / Live Again

BABY JEY – Canadian Dance-Pop Tandem Have A Question ‘WHAT’S THE POINT OF SAYING SORRY?’

Daily electricity to load your batteries

Band: BABY JEY
Who: Dance-pop orientated
tandem from Canada.

New single: WHAT’S THE POINT OF SAYING SORRY?

It draws inspiration from both classic and organ house of the 80s and 90s, and was recorded using vintage keyboards from that era: the Korg M1 and the Yamaha Motif ES7. I’ll feature on the duo’s upcoming album, named Crop Circles, out November 24th.

“Saying sorry can be important but spoken language isn’t the only way that people communicate. Some people listen to the song and think it’s about someone who is
bitter, saying ‘who cares that I’m hurt, as long as we’re sleeping together, then everything
must be fine.’ But other people take a straight up understanding of the lyrics – that words
can only say so much. There are things we can express with physical touch that are also emotionally powerful.”

TUTV: You can shake your hips smoothly to this Saturday Night Fever thrill every
day of the week. This pop-disco titillation wouldn’t be out of place on an album of
synth-dance stars Hot Chip or on an 80s LP by British dream pop Prefab Sprout. And
on the chorus, my ears hear echoes of the Bee Gees‘ high-pitched voices. I guess you
can imagine by now what you can expect to make your day.

Don’t say sorry, just dance.

Happy 78 To BRYAN FERRY

26 September 2023

The frontman, singer/songwriter and full-time playboy BRYAN FERRY of brilliant
art/glam rockers Roxy Music (formed in 1970) was born on 26 September 1945
in Washington, County Durham, England. Happy 78 to a solid gold legend.

Together with Brian Eno, he was Roxy‘s famous face. Also a smartly dressed
Casanova who had some much-publicized relationships with gorgeous models
(like Jerry Hall), and glamorous actresses. He disbanded Roxy Music in 1982 and
started (already when he was still a member, in 1976) a very successful solo
career.

Three great Ferry moments.

Waking Up With Swedish Blitzkrieg Turbo MORLOCKS Chasing DICKS IN TANKS

Daily noise that works faster than any stimulant

26 September 2023

2023 photo by Krichan Wihlbor

Band: MORLOCKS

Who: Swedish turbo founded last Century by mastermind J.Strauss, having several line-ups over the years. They operate around the borderlines between the collective subconscious, paradoxical multiverses and the bad conscience of the world (as we know it). They travel either like sinister prowlers through the shadows, or like a raging bulldozer, sneaking and bolting through and between the Cold War, radioactive wastelands, the catacombs of Rome and unspeakable dimensions beyond the Unknown Kadath.

Album trailer

New album: PRAISE THE ICONOCLAST
Out on 6 October via Metropolis Records.

Pre-order info here.

Single: DICKS IN TANKS

With guest vocal appearances from Sascha Konietzko of KMFDM, dark ambient
electro queen Karin My and black metal maestro Heljarmadr of Grá/Dark Funeral.

TUTV: War can be fun, well with Morlocks‘ cynical take on it that is.
Salute every hard on, a call to arms / this is my klaxon / sound the alarms.

Dicks In Tanks starts with warning war sirens, marching soldiers chants.
90 seconds later, it’s all hens on deck when this industrial rock missile
erupts with a blitzkrieg fierceness.

Think Rammstein and NIN having a fight with riot guns. Menacing growls and howls suggest imminent danger and when the clamorous chorus crashes in, it’s time to go to the battlefield. Midway, all need a breather in order to put fuel in the tank and continue the supersonic attacks will all burners on. War can be fun, in case Morlocks lead the troops.

Beat and defeat
Watch out for the mines
Penetrate the defensive lines
Swords for the hordes
Every member deployed
Cherish the joy to destroy

Jump in your own tank
and kick dicks’ asses.
