Daily electricity to load your batteries

Scottish indie heroes BMX Bandits started their musical journey in 1985.
They had some notable members along the way, like Teenage Fanclub‘s frontman
Norman Blake and The Vaselines’ Eugene Kelly. Along with Belle and Sebastian, Orange
Juice and Teenage Fanclub the band were/are synonymous for that characteristic
Scottish dream pop bliss.
Founding member, songwriter/vocalist and eternal driving force Duglas T. Stewart
started working on the band’s new, 12th album, named DREAMERS ON THE RUN back
in 2014, but health problems delayed the writing process. When he got freed from these worries he went to write, during lockdown, the soundtrack for a film, alongside with multi instrumentalist Andrew Pattie who played guitar for the bandits for a while.
It led to their collaboration on the new BMX Bandits album,
which is slated for release on April 26. Pre-order info here.
Stewart: “After recording an actual soundtrack for an actual movie together it became obvious to me that Andrew was the right collaborator to make this very cinematic album that I’d dreamt of. He had the musicality and fearlessness that it needed. Together we worked on some of the song ideas and themes that I had a decade ago, completing them together and both of us wrote new material that complemented the album’s narrative.”
Last November we could enjoy first brisk taster Setting The Sun and here comes the second new piece. TIME TO GET AWAY is a subtle, sweet little dream pop thrill. Romantic, easygoing and infectious, spiced with heartening violins, a smooth trumpet fragment and, of course Stewart‘s relaxing voice. It puts a careless smile on your face, and you can hum/whistle/sing along.
