New striking strokes

A the age of 74 MARK KNOPFLER is one of those many musicians who will never retire. Music streams through their veins from the day they were born, music is their life, music
is who they are.
The Scottish guitar hero wrote/recorded/released 6 LPs with Dire Straits between
1978 and 1991. His first solo record, named Golden Heart out in 1991. He also
composed 9 soundtrack albums (so far).
Over the years he turned more to softer music, to folk, country and roots
vibes. His new, 10th album, titled ONE DEEP RIVER lands on April 12th.
Press info: “The record offers an unstoppable flow of future Knopfler classics, with their customarily learned lyrics and refined guitar textures. They draw on a lifetime of genre-crossing ingredients and influences in blues, folk, rock and beyond, and as usual, reveal their charms with unhurried grace and depth.”
Following first single Ahead Of The Game a smooth, melodic, country-flavored
tune with his trademark guitar play, we get another taster.
Knopfler fans know that the sultan of swing played on several Bob Dylan records and
also toured with him. WATCH ME GONE made me immediately think of collaborative
work from those two songsmith masters. Nostalgic and relaxing with charming storytelling vocals, and, of course, shiny Knopfler guitar sparks.

I have been a Knoffler fan, apparently for 32 years. It was Walk of Life that got my attention and “Brothers in Arms” has been a favorite since then. His music fits my likes, somewhere between country and soft rock. Can’t wait for this album to come out.
A genuine musical master. Absolutely.
