New striking strokes

Maybe 76-year-old singer-songwriter/producer T BONE BURNETT, born
Joseph Henry “T Bone” Burnett III, wasn’t the glamorous mega star as many
of his contemporary musicians were, like Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Leonard
Cohen and Neil Young, to name just a few but his résumé is stuffed with great
musical achievements.

As a solo artist, he recorded/released several LPs. As a producer, he worked with
Los Lobos, Elvis Costello, Brandi Carlile, and Robert Plant & Alison Krauss and so many
more. He toured with Bob Dylan and other famous friends.

He won a bunch of Grammys, and he also won an Oscar for co-writing The Weary Kind
with Ryan Bingham, one of the songs that actor Jeff Bridges sang in 2009 film Crazy Heart.

Now 18 years after his last solo album The True False Identity, Burnett decided to
come back again with his 15th full-length. It’s baptized THE OTHER SIDE and comes

Along with the news comes the first single which
features backing vocals by female duo Lucius

Burnett: “I was reading a news story that some shocking percentage of Number One
hit songs had the word ‘you’ in the title. I view the purpose of art as creating conscience, so I was constantly appealing to people’s consciences, but I realized when a songwriter uses the word ‘you,’ he is, of course, in the world of conscience, but he’s also in the world of people’s dreams. And when you enter into people’s dreams, you have to be very careful with them.”

WAITING FOR YOU is a vintage romantic, yearning, bittersweet, sentimental and good
old ballad. I’m a sucker for lullabies like this (certainly after a day with lots of noisy music) that calm me down and touch my heart and soul. Burnett‘s warm voice and smooth guitar play turn this song into a wonderful, timeless and charming musing. A universal love song
