BAD BUDDY – Canadian Garage Rock Trio Score Touchdown With New Spry Single ‘Q.B.’

Daily electricity to load your batteries

1 April 2024

Band: BAD BUDDY
Who: Motown-surf-punk trio from Edmonton, Canada feat. Emily Bachynski (vocals, guitar), Andi Vissia (guitar, vocals) and Geoffrey HamdonO’Brien (drums). They’re a genre-defying musical spectacle, casually time traveling from wartime boogie-woogie bops, to glitterball heartbreak slow dances, to eye-gushing punk bloodbaths. They released their self-titled debut album in 2020.

New single: Q.B.

Q.B. marks the first co-write between Andi and
Bad Buddy‘s main songwriter, Emily Bachynski.

Andi wrote this song during a significant period of change when she
was feeling insecure about her abilities as a musician and felt judged
by people who she thought were going to be supportive.

TUTV: Q.B. is a spry, mid-tempo garage rock tune with an immediate impact on
your hips’ movements. The trio rattle and roll, move and groove, swing and spring,
and load and explode on the fervid chorus.

Midway an excited guitar works its way to the front for some electrical firework,
robust drums take care of the ongoing (heart)beat, while zealous vocals feed the
sonic heat. Overall Bud Buddy bring the early dance-punk days of Gossip to mind.

“Cheerleader? Nah, I’m the Q.B. The quarterback is
the star of the football show – the main event, baby! “

Touchdown!

The video is conceptualized by Andi and directed by Emily. It features the band
growing increasingly exasperated by other people telling them what to do.

Andi: “I feel like I had an idea for this music video years ago – way before the song had presented itself to me. One of my experiences as a woman in this industry is having people think I’m there because of a man (my partner or others), or just having people underestimate my experience and credibility.”
