Daily noise that works faster than a stream of caffeine
3 September 2024
Band: GIRL TONES
Who: A high-energy rock duo from Nashville brought to life by two
sisters named Kenzie and Laila. Both classically trained musicians,
Kenzie transitioned from cello to guitar and Laila from piano to
drums in an effort to electrify sentient beings from this galaxy
to the next.
FFO: Nirvana, The White Stripes, Sleater-Kinney, Bikini Kill.
Debut single: FADE AWAY
Kenzie: “It’s about being vulnerable and slowly getting burned over
and over again by someone you love, to the point you have to move
on with your life. You’re hurt, you’re angry, you’re owed an apology.”
TUTV: Wham bam bloody wham bam. Talking about a smashing debut.
Fade Away attacks your loudspeakers like an Herculean hammer, and makes
your desperate neighbours phone the anti-decibels police. Against a wall of
aggressive guitars and sinewy drum these two daredevils scream their lungs
and their hearts out.
Toxic relationships can lead to this kind of volcanic outburst. Watch your back
Amyl and the Sniffers, here come two riot sister grrrls, named Girl Tones.
Wake up people,
and start your day with
this knockout debut.
