THE CURE, named Malice (1976–1977) and Easy Cure (1977–1978)
before they became the band we all know scored multiple hits in
the past.
One of them IN BETWEEN DAYS (more than 221 million streams
on Spotify). It was released 40 years ago today, on 15 July 1985.
It featured on their LP The Head On The Door.
It was an international success (except in
America where it only got to No. 99).
In the UK, it was their 4th consecutive Top 20 hit. It was also
a Top 20 hit in Australia and New Zealand and several European
countries.
John Leland of Spin Magazine said, “It has the bittersweet feel of
a New Order record, with a hyperstrummed acoustic guitar for depth.
The boys even offer a genuine glimmer of hope, and the tune fairly
breezes by on its own momentum.”
“OMG, number 99 in America”
